Poet deVine asked for suggestions for something we could do for National Poetry Month (see Suggestion Box). I suggested a few things, including giving your poetry away locally, but anonymously.
To that end and just as a little warm-up to test the waters, I scatched off this little bit a couple of evenings ago as I was having something to eat at the Dong Khanh, in a city I do not frequent. I think it speaks for itself, drivel tho' it may be. I had never before seen this young woman who was so energetically tending the tables, and I probably never will again. I left this for her, written on a little note book sheet wrapped around my tip, and then walked out the door. It was a bit of a rush . . . turning my back and walking away, never to know what reaction it might have gotten.
Try something like this in April, you might enjoy it.
--------

If I owned a place like this
I'd hire you away
I could serve most any dish
Because you'd make the day

Hustle is your middle name
You're Johnni-on-the-spot
The place would come to some fame
cuz "The dishes are all hot"

Lovely! That reminds me of years ago, about 13, when funds were microminimal, I did a drawing with a note attached for my tip for a wonderfully energetic and caring server in a restaurant. This is a lovely idea, very lovely, that you have. Of course, I'm not too certain I'd want to post it as well as giving it to the person for whom it was written. But a lovely gesture, for certain.

VAS

Didn't mean to suggest posting it here, which is the usual challenge, just doing this as an example. Hadn't planned on posting this at all, but thought the idea might be more convincing this way.

Hey Krawdad what a great idea! How fun to brighten somebody's day by leaving an anonymous poem! I think I'm gonna try it!
