OK, for those who haven't noticed, I have been peeking around here, popping out comments every so now and then.  Being back here has made me want to start writing poems again (can you believe it has been about 10 months now?)  Anyway, like I was saying, I have been getting more and more inspired to write again, but after being out of the groove for so long, I am stuck on what to write about.  Can anyone give some ideas...and tell me how you want it (i.e serious, comical, twisted, surprise ending, etc.)

I sit and ponder and lift thoughts from my consciousness, spilling them forth to here, raising my lit cigarette and blowing smoke in the face of reali

Echo,

My advice would be to write what you feel . . . whatever comes to you . . .

Good luck!!

I just wrote my first haiku at youth last night.  I can tell u that I had no idea what I was going to write.

So try writing a haiku starting with a line about the season, or something outside, and then go on from there.  The best thing is that it's short, so you don't have to worry about having that flurry of information that you need to write THE BIG ONE, lol.

find a good, but obscure Dramady or romantic comedy. and write a poem from the themes of the movie or from the point of view of the characters...extrapolate past or before the movie if ya like...
i did this with a movie called "Mixed Signals". it was also the title of the poem. it turned out a lot better than i thought it would...< !signature-->

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates who said, "I drank what?"

Echo:

First, welcome back, m'dear!

I would suggest that you try something painstakingly descriptive ... try taking an object, in nature or otherwise, and describing it poetically in intricate detail.  This is the catch, though -- don't mention in the poem or title exactly what it is you are describing.  See if anyone can guess from your words!

Just a thought, albeit a weak one -- LOL

Thanks everyone for you suggestions, but I just couldn't get into any of them.  I did however come up with something, all though it is not what I wanted.  It is posted in Open...Thanks for all the help!  Much appreciated!

Echo, when I reach a point like that I sit down and type one word...any word that comes to mind. Then I try to add to that word without really thinking about anything, just letting the keyboard flow.  Sometimes I use what comes and often I find something hits the mind totally unrelated to what I'm typing, but it got the juices flowing and that was it's purpose in the first place.

Ahhhh been there and if your still stuck, what helped me write again was writing how uninspired I was.

Life has got to chnage,
Nothing stays the same,
Soon it will be time,
For me to move on.
