I love Dr. Seuss, and I was thinking how fun it would be to see if any of us out there can write like the good Dr. It can be happy, sad, silly, political,about Christmas, whatever gets you going   I thought this would be fun......Common! Give it a try!   -SEA

SEA, I wrote this in response to a poem Balladeer wrote and I think it's got the rythmn and flow of Dr Seuss however the subject matter is debatable.

Kind to you
you know I am
even when you're eating spam
even when the cows come home
even when your cover's blown
could I
would I
there's the rub
I would love you in the tub
In the street and in the mall
kindness to you will never pall
should you
could you
ever see
just what it is you mean to me
I would be kind, I would be true
I would teach a thing or two
So Balladeer don't you fret
for I will be kind across the net.

Kethry

Oh Kethry!!! I love this! It does have a Dr. Seuss feel to it! Perfect! Was this a reply or a poem you posted? It should have it's own post in Open, cause this is fantastic!   Thank you for putting this in here for me to see   -SEA

Here's the one from work.

Hello I just want to say
could  we, should we walk today
it's been a week or maybe more
I know you're headed out the door
but could we walk in a park
together pacing would be a lark
exercise could  pump our heart
and we must make a start
could we should walk away
if not tomorrow then today
walk in the park across the bench
in the dark and by a trench
in the rain and in the snow
walking is the way to go.
could we should we walk today
walking, walking I hear you say
that's all you ever ask of me
we could go walking by a tree
by a tree and in the park
across the bench and in the dark
by a trench and in the rain
in the snow we'll walk again.
Could we should we what do you say
if not tomorrow then today.

The two poems posted are great.     I think I'll give this a try.  It's been so long since I heard or read a Dr. Sues book though.  hopr I get it right.

Oh, my goodness

Now I've really
come undone
I've place my little
Dr. Seuss piece
in Open #11
for all to see
It is causing
quite the stir
I think perhaps
you should SEA
what this challenge
has brought to me !
You can find it

It's entitled
Spam I Am !

SEA, I don't know if it is worth putting on Open, but it's what came across when I was either tinking or thinking...

~~~
I don't know
how to grow old
gracefully
though I very much
want to do so
willingly
see…
my role models left,
left me in uncertain form
and I've past the norm
where youth was firm
and fine tho I now discern
that certain facts
escape me somehow
so sad
I could use a role model
now, and pass stories past
on somehow through
the mouth of some
kin, remembering
when they were
told and then
sharing
caring
but all of this
has given me
resolve to let me live and be
as grand an old person as I can be
[now insert a wheee…..whee….we…]
sometimes I'd give
a certainteed look
to be of caliber
for a Dr. Seuss book
so then I think that instead
of rhyme
I'll be a SEA's type of kind
where nothing makes sense
and then sense would make of
all the more
I'd shove it in a Steveadore
if I could just have one more chance
at the closed door,
to place it on the barroom floor
and take that dance just one more time
and make that couple give one more rhyme
and live life like it should be lived
and allow me the chance
to give, give, give…
because the couple you see
would go out to the SEA
to show just this,
that rhymes so much with me
and what I would really like to do
is rhyme just with me and you
time with just me and you
bind with just you and me
and to be old gracefully
see it not in what I see
so I'll go on so gracefully
on to what it should be
and travel on to eternity
in the thought of
what could be
you…
and
me…
