Ok... Most of us have had one, or two, or three...or more! We deeply love them, and we would do anything for them... well, here's your chance!  What am I talking about? Our beloved, ever faithful and devoted pets! Dogs, cats (my particular favorite), birds, fish, or hamster... anything! Write a poem to them or in honor of them, for them or in memory of them. Show those pets how you feel (ok ok, I know they can't read, but I'm sure they'd love it if they could!)  I know it's not much of a challenge, and some of you have already written in honor of your pets, but I just wanted to see some more of those wonderful words devoted to those who will always love us unconditionally...I'll scan through the forums and comment on as many as I can. Thanks

SorrowsMystress, I've just posted a poem on open #9 about my pet it's called "The trouble with Cats." But I'll try to come up with a more fitting tribute.

but it is the loss that shapes the image,
gathers the flowers weaves the garland."-

Hi SorrowsMystress, I don't have a family pet but I do have favorites in the animal kingdom if this is acceptable

Mothers

The mother lion stalks her prey with such prowess,
her agility, patience and cunning enhance her ability.
The cub playfully watches and attempts to mimic mom,
but his size and inexperience limits the cub's capability.

The mother gorilla sadly having lost her infant in death,
searches for another who has been abandoned, to adopt.
The little one she finds has been orphaned and left to die,
with the care and love of his new found mom, he will soon adapt.

The zebra profoundly pregnant, awaits anxiously for birth,
the little one is in distress, to be born it will need aid.
Mom is beginning to panic, she knows something is wrong,
but instinct tells her Mother Nature will supply the necessary aide.

debbie

Think of saying "I Love You" as always being overdue.
Love is a gift, not an obligation.

Thank you SM, for this challenge- I went way back and found a memorial tribute I wrote for a wonderful cat we had- and posted it in Open #9 entitled Daisy's Goodbye.
Pets have and continue to be a wonderful part of my life.  David

Mysticcharm- yes, this will do just fine. I loved the poem. I enjoyed the way you expressed the view of the animals in motherhood... very good work! Thanks for responding
