If the ideal mate doesn't suit you, what about telling me of the most emotional thing that has EVER happened to you.  In poetic verse of course, how it affected you, and how it has made you change your life for the better???
Any takers?

I wrote this poem about my best friend and the effect she had on my life...a huge one...I hope it suits this challenge. I'm not sure it is right for the challenge...please give me guidance here!

What You Mean To Me

When my world was bleak
And my life was empty.
When my soul was dull
And my heart full of sorrow.
When I couldn't smile
And the tears wouldn't stop flowing.
When I didn't know how how to go on
And faced an impossible mountain.

You came into my life.
You took my hand and walked with me.
You wrapped your arms around me
And sheltered me from
All of my invisible enemies.
You heard everything I couldn't express
And you listened with your heart.
You said I could turn to you at anytime
Night or Day.
You spent long hours with me
Helping me discover my worth.
I found a true friend in you.

Then fate drew us apart for a while.

In that time,
Every word you had spoken to me
Every hug you had given me
Every magical healing smile
You had flashed my way,
Began to mean so much more to me.
Everything changed:

My world became full of sunshine
And my life full of fun.
My soul had a song to sing to sing
And my heart soared
On the wings of happiness.
There were many smiles
And much laughter.
And the mountain it melted away
Leaving a clear path for me to follow.
The path that led me back
Into your heart and life.
The moment our paths rejoined
I felt true friendship.
I felt pure bliss
For I had been reunited
With my one true friend.
You.

True friendship is
The strongest of bonds:
It is the invisible yet indestructible
Thread joining our hearts.
It is the many smiles that have
Passed between us.
It is the comfort and encouragement
We have given each other.
It is the unconditional love that is
Always there when we are together.
It is the loyalty and devotion
We feel toward one another.
It is the pleasure we find
In each other's company.
It is the trust that
Embraces our relationship.
It is the being there "no matter what".
It is that special warmth in your eyes.

It is You.
It is Me.
And it always will be.

Though we are now separated by miles,
That is only physical.
We are always together in our hearts.
The bond of true friendship
Is stronger than distance
And more eternal than time.

I have often wondered
Why God did not give you wings.
For you truly are my angel:
My one and only true friend.

Absolutely perfect ESP

Now I'll try to do it..

The day you were born something changed within me,
I felt the hand of destiny and gained that and so much more,
The door to my heart was truly opened,
I say beauty in things I'd never noticed before.

My heart expanded to heights I'd never known,
I cared so much more for friends, family and the world,
I now wanted to make things different,
For now this world belonged to you.

My precious son,
Child of my heart and soul,
I looked down in the crib,
And there I saw such trusting eyes looking back at me.

I swore then and then, my life would change,
I'd somehow make the world a better place,
Do my part, send love out into the world,
Simple little things even just a smile on my faace.

You my son, awoke in me, a true heart and soul,
Much stronger than ever before,
Now I send out only love and caring,
And I never close my doors.

I've changed for the better,
Became a Mother and so much more,
And in the meantime found my purpose in life,
Something wonderous that is worth striving for.

And it is?
Total hope and love............

Well this I might do.
it might be different, but what do you expect from a carnivores Wolf...

Millie

She was just a dog to some
A lowly beast
She fed upon
hamburgers, chili beans,
and pizza she did feast.

She went through hard times
with me, and soothe my brow.
she was big as big as a cow.

This great Diane was big you see,
I took her every where,
she road in my truck,
she even went dancing with me.

No one could argue I was a bad boy
running wild in my youth the devils ploy,
Millie loved me with all she had,
She didnít care if I was bad.

We went where we liked,
and did what we pleased
not one person could touch me
not even a sneeze.

Millie would bear her teeth
to save me in order to please.
She stood six foot three,
on her hind legs,
this love of mine with flees.

I saw her grab a guy who tried to play around
She took and shook him
in a flash lifting him off the ground
I miss her so this ?? lowly beast,
this once time love, my hound.

She lived to an old age
for dog years it was longer than most
I gave her anything she needed even wet toast.
(she loved that)

I scooped her phoop,
when she had no control
paid her medical bills in later life
even when it was a toll.

It may seem silly to some
or sad to most,
this dog I loved who loved milk toast.

She died in my arms I held her so tight
her soul passed through my spirit
when she met her blight,

I cried when I lost this mutt
and every one feared Iíd run amuck.
I keep her in a cedar box still
when I feel the world has become a pill,
I turn to this box and say,
Oh God millie why did you go away.

Joel. (A true story) and I still miss her so.

I howl a mornful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.
