Read the poem "Who Am I?" that I posted in this forum (but Ron has since moved to Open Poetry#2), I hit the wrong button *grin*

I am the quiet whisper of the wind through lonely valley.
I am the bragging, clashing cymbals of a military band.
I am a knight with out armor, sword, or steed. I am a king without a kingdom, a dreamer without a dream.
When the spirit moves me, I am most tender.
When the devil whispers, I am most cruel.
I am the perfect mystery.
One I will never figure out.

Mix one part Sancho Panza with two parts Don Quixote. Stir in a pinch of Jeffersonian ideology, and a smidgen of Edison optimism. That's still not quite right, but you're getting close...

all my pieces

I am a woman,
I am a gemini
and I am a taoist
I believe in smiling
or crying, but only
one day at a time.
A gemini's dual nature
might make me seem
flighty and confusing.
But the heart of this
woman beats warm and true

This one was written in another of the Marvelous Passionate Guru's forums, in a far begotten forgotten time. But the answer is eternal as are the souls within each mortal coil.

"I AM" (Alicat's Ego)

I am the Semantic Picassso and Culinary Hound
I wonder if one hand clapping makes half a sound
I hear in silent forests the falling tree's ap
I see ragged chorus line angels on pinheads tap
I want to see my writings printed and bound
I am the Semantic Picassso and Culinary Hound

I pretend on the job that I'm earning bread
I feel Viagra-ed angels dancing on my head
I touch leathery wings of a horny angel
I worry I will never hear the falling tree cl
I cry bitter tears for this abortive sound
I am the Semantic Picassso and Culinary Hound

I understand that angels often need to dance
I say, "Help me, I'm in a soft-shoe trance!"
I dream my works included in a child's education
I try to make the cl and ap estrange-ed, one
I hope something hears the falling tree hit ground
I am the Semantic Picassso and Culinary Hound

Many thanks to }X{Angel}X{ for this challenge once upon a sweet springtime time.

This is a poem kind of like Alicat's. I wrote it in my freshman creative writing class.

I Am Shy, But Outspoken

I am shy, but outspoken.
I wonder why we fall in love.
I hear waves crashing on the beach.
I see angels from up above.
I want to be with the one I love for eternity.
I am shy, but outspoken.

I pretend that there is no such thing as hate.
I feel like no one understands me.
I touch the skies with my finger tips.
I worry about never finding true love.
I cry when no one is around.
I am shy, but outspoken.

I understand the uncertainty of death.
I say forgive and forget.
I dream that I will find all the "answers".
I try to be a good person.
I hope that someday I will find the meaning of life.
I am shy, but outspoken.

The lyrics of a song comes to mind with this question. They describe me to a tee.

I'm a bitch,
I'm a lover,
I'm a child,
I'm a mother,
I'm a sinner,
I'm a saint.
I will not be ashamed.

From the first time I heard those lyrics I knew they were describing me. I have many faces but I am always true to my soul. I am a work in progress. Always learning and changing.

I am literally crazy. I am very moody, yet always smiling. I am quiet yet loud. I'd rather not have a lot of people know me...I like to keep to myself. And I'm a hopeless romantic. I am optimistic yet pessimistic. This is me...

I'm the one who'll linger by,
Love you till the day I die --
But if my love is not your fate,
Then I'm the one you'll love to hate.

Who am I?
That's a silly question.
I am me!
Who is that?
Well since you ask, that is who I am!
What does that mean?
Well, now that you mention it, I'm not quite sure.
I am me!
That is to say.
I am when I am me.
Is that OK?
You see, if you don't agree, I can be whatever you want.
Who would you like?
What would you like?
What is it that you wish me to be?
Just myself?
What do you mean?
Which me is that?
Who am I?
Well, now that I stop to think, I guess I'm not so sure.
I am who you need.
I am what you want.
So, which me will it be?
Who am I?
I guess I can only say, I am who you see!

This is the poem that I posted in response to this challenge in September, but I dug it up again, cause well, I kinda like it!

Still Life
Prism

I am
a glass of water
on a table square
Toppled
by small hands surging
to drain
From the corners
to drip I am a glass
rolled to the rhythm
Square on the edge
of nowhere Spilling
fragments Green tiled
prisms Chilled

In splinters I am
glass.
