I sat atop China
and contemplated my fate
I had escaped a boiling tank...
now here I lie
the strong stench of dirty feet
and vegetables abound.
Then it came...
digging and twisting, metal teeth into my insides before I am thrust into a crushing, dark pit. What could I be?

Ron- absolutely! Other things that smell like dirty feet:
1-Tacos
2-once washed tupperware
3-wet velcro

Now see what you've started!

LOL, lovely topic, we went from food, to things that smell! GOOD COMBINATION! Anywho...I think the worst smelling thing would have o be my brothers socks after he gets home from work, You cant even imagine!

Krista :O)

(oh! And about the food thing in the beginning, Couldnt it also be a crab??Or lobster!?)

No, in my opinion the worst smelling thing in the whole world are workout clothes that haven't been washed in months...or even years...(my dad and my brother, ewe!)

At the risk of being a bit crude I would have to say none of those things smell as bad as a dog fart.

Strangely enough, the thought of some of these odors (mothballs, wet dogs, and especially workout clothes) bring back some very fond memories for me. We use the sense of vision and touch so much in our poetry, maybe it would be interesting to see some verses that evoke our other senses more?

I agree with Ron (smile) One of my favorite smells (sorry) is errr cow... doo doo.

I'm sorry.. but everytime I drive by a field of cows. I'm taken back to the farm I grew up on.. and a million memories flood into my mind..and as I pass... the memory fades away...

I think I shall stop next time.. and park awhile.

I have to agree with you, Nan. The beach smells awsom by itself, but after a rainstorm, it's even better. Nothing compares. Sorry guys.

Long, long ago,
in China I'm told,
to England was traded some tea.
And soon his majesty
sent soldiers and thieves,
to India looking for gold...
yeah.
Poppies...
yeah.

Is that the answer to the question (poppies=opium?)If so, or if not... do you know the song from the above lines????

Maybe it's a rock.  I know this may not be very well-supported, but we need to remember that 'china' is spelled with a capital C.  Maybe it's a rock that was used in the making of the Great Wall of China.

I know that the boiling tank part doesn't fit in well with this, but how about the dirty feet and the vegetables.  Maybe it's the stench of the soldiers feet, as they run around on the wall.  Maybe weeds have grown through the spaces between the stones.

THen, maybe a chariot came by, it's weight pressing the stone further into the floor.

some kind of food for sure!
The only thing that I can visualize about dirty feet is grapes!  You know, stomping on them to make wine?
