My challenge is for everyone to write a short poem, or a long one if you wish, about your feelings on life itself. It can be anything from life being dull, and boring...to it being fantastic, interesting, and exciting!!! Good luck!!! I look forward to reading some great poems!

Life

Life is only what you take it for
If you don't it's like a closed door
If you seize the moment, dreams come true
Just remember that in all you do.

Never take for granted what you've got
And always shoot for the dreams you've sought
If this you don't do, you're dreams will fade
Like ice cubes melting in lemonade.

Nothing is worse than a faded dream
No matter how bad your life may seem
So live and love and never forget
All the goals in life you have set.

I am a just starting off as a poet and this is one of my first poems. I hope you like it.

Life is filled with wondrous sights
Like falling snow and hot summer nights
The crisp clear air that fill's the nose
The songs of birds or turtle's crossing the road
Then we have the fall and spring what
Beautiful colors that they bring
The brisk winds carrying autumn leaves
The sound the wind makes in the trees
The first real heat on a warm spring day
Open the window's to let in the air
`Tis spring the cleaning months we share
When all around us comes new life
As young love blossoms fill the air
The sent of flowers everywhere
As men and women go hand and hand
And again new birth fill's the land
As Son's and Daughters take their plight
Off to war they go to fight
To stand for honor and liberty
To keep our country safe and free
Red white and Blue old Glory waves
In the land of the free and the home of the brave
Yet in streets and playground war they play
And they take our baby's every day
As we lay them down to sleep
Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall
The season of pain is in them all
Yes life is filled with wondrous sights
Like the North Star that once burned bright
And gave us twinkling colored Christmas lights
We need to stop and see the light
And love each other, wrong or right

Memories can be both good and
Bad
Memories can be both happy and
Sad
So how can we tell the difference in
These
Unlock the question with gentle
Ease
Take a look and make a
Choice
With a listen to their
Voice
Listen to mine and you will
See
That I'm as sad as sad can
Be
No place to go, no where to
Head
Lies were believed by what the other one
Said
No case to present, no truth be
Told
Love was bought, stolen, and then it was
Sold
Through the clouds there is a
Light
That shows to me I'll be
Alright
So take my hand I'll show you
Too
That all you need in life is
You!

This poem basically says that in life no matter how many friends you have or how close to your family you are, the only person who is trully going to help you get over any pain or obstacle is you. (and a little help from above!)

Life

I loved that glossy magazine,
Pictures of places I'd never seen,
Captions explaining every scene,
Large as life on a movie screen.

Life

I loved the stories in its pages,
Grief and joy, sorrow, rages,
Personalities of fools and sages,
Loves and hates, and how they engage us.

Life

The price seemed high in my youth,
How could I know the price of truth,
The price of seeing visual proof,
Oh glorious Life, how I've missed you.

Life

what?.... NOT the magazine??? You didn't mean the Magazine???? oops... never mind... (slinking off in embarrassment...)

Life is life, what can one say?
It's how you live and love each day.
A bird's sweet trill, a rising sun.
A kiss goodnight, a soulful song.
It's what we do and how we act.
It's not what "ain't", or what we lack.
Enjoy you friends, your family too.
Just be yourself, 'cause "life" is you!

Day Blue

Regimented aerials point the way to the world,
As clouds scurry past,
Past Offices and trees
That seem to fall from the sky
Rain spatters the window
In denial of the sky’s brightness.

Should I go out?

I have no reason to
But these walls crush me.
Sometimes the only voices I hear
Are on the TV and Radio
‘though I live close to a million souls

The skyscape calls to me
But I have no answer for it
Perched between the suburbs and the city
Spirit dampened by lethargy
Buoyed up by imagination
I live within myself.

The air will do me good
But signs of life will do more

The room brightens as the sun
Appears from behind the clouds
And the city gleams invitingly
In answer to my decision

I will go.

Life is pain,
endless and wasting
its way
into a captive display
of endless refrain.

Misery
is such grievous delight
that much insight
into the mind
of mankind
will surely find
a longing
for the night.

Wisdom
will always
pay the price
of an endless day
that does entice
the sight
with heady lust
and a longing
for mistrust
of the Light.

this is I think more in reply to you. read on

Hey!! Just “SMILE”

Smile - when all your efforts go to vain
Smile - the returns are more than the pains
Smile - when you know you are to win
Smile - even when the losses are in
Smile - when your heart is heavy with fun
Smile - when every wish is as far as the sun
Smile - when everything is found
Smile - even when you are in doubt

Smile - that’s all you need to do.
You’ll find - how “many” of those woes become “few”.

Life,
As fleeting as a moment in a dream,
Whispering secrets to use every day,
Which we sadly choose to ignore.
Resourceful and within the power of our molding,
Yet we let it go on the winds of sarcasm,
And constant pain.
I'd be the world if I could,
And have but one thought to be happy,
Never wanting to ruin the mystery,
By always needing to know everthing.
I'd remove the eccentricity,
So that could all be more open,
To the possibilities of life's potential.

Okay, so it is rusty, and may not meet said challenge, but this helps me release some of my clutter at the least. Thanks for the challenge.
