On A Journey To The Unknown

I use to think of you as, my night in shining armor
For you had become my world, making me feel so loved
Everyday you and I, were always doing things together
Then all of a sudden it was as if, I just couldn't do enough

I anxiously waited each day for you to come home
Just to see you drive on by, going on up the road
Each time you passed on by the house as if I wasn't here
I wondered how you could always be so cold

I loved you so much and only wanted to be with you
When you wanted something from me, I was your wife
Any other time, it was as if I was just your maid
Sometimes I wonder if, I ever do anything that is right

I remember the fear you had of me not even staying
Now I understand perfectly well, why you had that fear
I tried to make something you said you wanted, happen
For you, I have done this each and every single year

It took me a little while to realize what you were doing
I try as hard as I can to hang onto the love I have inside
The love that I was once able to show to you each day
I realized you just wanted to be able to push aside

I did everything I could think of to do to show my love
I always did anything you asked me to do for you
Even done the things you should have done yourself
Only to find out, for me, there wasn't anything you would do

There is just one thing I think you need to know
Women are not put on this earth, just to cater to you
You have to be as willing to give, as much as you are get
This is just one thing you don't seem to be willing to do

I finally accepted that you were never going to be around
Even started filling up my time with something else
Instead of sitting here, waiting for you to come home
Cause, one thing I know for sure is, I can live by myself

I know it hurts to get there but your point is well spoken. And you deserve so much more! Don't settle for less. Your poetry doesn't.

I'm a person, not just a wife
It has been that way all my life
I was born just the same as you
With the same feelings in me too

I'm first rate, I'm not just a date
I am more than just some fresh bait
I have wants,  that are not unreal
Most of all,  I have person appeal

So,  if you want just a live-in maid
You better go, your tune's been played

You told it like it is....I'm proud of
you.
