I'm chasing the dragon in fits and in starts
To take back control of my hand and heart
The dragon is powerful, massive and strong
Yet still I chase it, through right or all wrong
In hint of illusion the dragon brings gifts
And through all emotion it sneakingly sifts
The heart of the dragon is what I would claim
But foulest confusion takes over my name
I see gleams of splendour and yearningly sigh
For dragons of dreaming to fill up my eye
I know all is peril when dragons I chase
And yet I am running to be in the race
No hope for new armour unless I can claim
The dragon I'm chasing, for hope or all blame
Pursuit in intention the chase is the prize
Should I catch this dragon I'd bleed out my eyes
Still I'm pursuing I know not why or where
When I'm still and silent the dragon dwells there
I'm chasing the dragon for now I can see
Oh wonder of wonders the dragon tags me.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Keth
I think everyone's chasing a dragon of some sorts....However, this is excellent when considering all the elements of your chase.....You've come such a long way as a poet!

Don't you dare bring that damn dragon to our picnic!!

Keth,  I have to agree with ET....

Your poetry has come a long way....

Impressive....

Dragons and dogs,  both chase their tails...
Unfortunately...as you have said...seems
that we humans chase our tail from time
to time...

"Pursuit in intention the chase is the prize"

I like this line especially.  I got a similar insight when trying to understand a difficult charismatic writing. It was this:
"tis not in the writings,
'tis in the search for the meaning"

Keth darling sister of my soul’s voive and shiner of the nights starts oh my goodness this is utterly utterly superb writing. The brilliance of the stars is echoed in this beautiful poem. It flows so smoothly, its form is utterly utterly wonderful and the picture of the dragon is beautifully drawn, ahhhhhhh darling girl this is utterly utterly perfect.

Chase the dragon through the night
And watch in awe its splendid flight
Sit astride your devil’s steed
Feel the dragon chasing soul’s need
You needn’t live in such care
Steer the dragon to anywhere
Touch the dragon feed it’s heart
Inside the dragon lies love’s part

Chase the dragon feel it’s speed
Let it take you away from greed
No need to share dragon’s fate
All truth is found at true love’s gate
Pick up your sword defend me
Then open the door, set me free
Chase the dragon keep it near
With a dragon you’ll have no fear

Marsha

I love this utterly, it is utterly utterly perfect and I love it love it love it well written

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the eathquake wind and fire
Oh

Sometimes it takes a dragon to catch a dragon. Well done, enjoyed.

This is the story of my life. Knowing the slang of the term "chasing the dragon"--I can't say it was a fun read for me tho...but a very apt description of a self actualized hell. Kudos, Keth!

This has so many layers and so much depth... there's a lighthearted whimsy that's so easy to enjoy... but unless I'm misreading, there's also the pain of battling an adversary who won't play by the rules... and that layer is even more impressive. *S* Well written!

You are a good poet as soon as you try to reach others with your words.

Keth, this was great!!! It is not so much to name the dragon but keep the path that leads past one and home.... without losing yourself to its charms or being burnt by its vices.

Love, Light and Peace,
Sherry

Cherish the good memories past and look forward to the adventure called Tomorrow.
But above all... be kind to yourself today.
