Little Girl

She flew the winds on angel wings
But left her songs ongolden strings
In melodies both far and near
That many souls will stop to hear

She walked away but left her worth
On footsteps tread upon the earth
So others who may cross her path
Hear echoes of a child’s laugh

She skipped along a rivers edge
And hid behind a garden hedge
I saw her mark upon a tree
And underneath a bandaged knee

She played in grasses of the field
Where happiness would be the yield
She left behind a teacup’s fill
Of daisies on a window sill

She went to bed with peace of mind
With good-night kisses pure and kind
Before the hour of morning dew
She left behind a prayer or two

She left the strength of mighty oak
Some childhood thoughts she never spoke
A million kisses to be kissed
A sunny day that will be missed

For what was lost, so much was gained
More joy she brought than grief or pain
She left within each trembling heart
A love that never will depart

The greatest gift she gave the world
Was when her little hands unfurled
Her fingertips on life were such
They left their mark on all she touched

Absolutely beautiful and touching writing Liz.  Hugs.

(big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, I cried reading this because I too am always touched by innocent girls who always spread their love about, for I've heard that God made little girls to pick flowers and spread joy to the world to overcome the sorrows and to give the flowers to their moms and dads and to dance and let their dreams run wild! (kiss on cheek) This is gorgeous, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love anhd light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

This surely touches the hearts of anyone who ever felt the loss of a child taken from our lives.  It is always much too soon.  Thank you for reminding me of the gifts that are left behind.

Gentle Spirit, Thank you for your kind words

Noah, I am touched by your response. Thank you

Madame Chipmunk, Thanks so much.

Martie,   Michelle was certainly the inspiration for this poem, and I rememeber long ago when you posted a poem about her, so many poets responded to your poem that they had also lost a child. So this is for all of them and for you, Martie, who have so lovingly shared Michelle's life with us ,
Lots of love went into this poem

Hello Elizabeth

I was in absolute awe at the beautiful way in which you wrote this, how the words flowed like a tranquil stream.  Such words could only come from the kindest of hearts.

Take care......Sue
