Fine hair flowing, moss of green

        grows between the bricks...

a slipping trick of legs on stilts

as pirates cheer--the fog grows thick...

cleaving to a crypt of olde...

        Spanish moss tricked my eyes

        the sunlight flickered my surprise

my legs of lean to find the prize

        hidden in the Spaniard's eyes

cleaving to a crypt of olde

finding life in gasp of air

        caliope performs the stare

        of the river's endless walk

echoes of the ghosts that stalk

cleaving to a crypt of olde...

he shadows in and out of mine

or 'tis moss that so entwines?

lost am I in shadows keep

tossed am I in slumbers deep

cleaving to a crypt of olde...

        beneath a cantalier held low

        within a chandelier of glow

I felt the touch of gloved hand

        all is light--I understand--

cleaving to a crypt of olde

then as sudden the light grows dim

No! I must not lose this hold of him!

Screams my mind come back to me!

in the darkness I'm found silently

cleaving to a crypt of olde...

I scratch my "x" upon the tomb,

        candlewax among the ruins--

        boasting stories still untold,

        through laughter of Marie Laveau.

cleaving to a crypt, consoled...

(a duet, by Karilia and Karen...or Sunshine and Serenity...or...grin, bet that's the last time you'll leave things up to ME, huh, Kari? AWFUL TITLE, ain't it? now, if we head to the river? We can catch the last band--there, by the Spanish Plaza as we watch the sun go down over the river, there outta be a nice breeze today!--DAMNED HOT, ain't it?)

Kari---this was so much fun, and I could have gone on forever...I love New Orleans...it is a state of mind within a state...

it was and remains a joy to share this with someone who appreciates her as I do--and hey? The coffee is grand at Cafe' Du Monde--but I'm warning you--grin--I'm only there at sun-up? and? I generally win the powdered sugar fights! (It's okay, we can clean off in the fountain)

Thanks to all for reading...and? I'd suggest you all try new orleans, but? for some reason? FOLKS JUST DON'T WANNA LEAVE....

BRAVO!! Standing ovation requested!
I've only been to Nawlins once, but I love the way you capture its enchanting spirit.

I've been there, Serene One...and you wouldn't want to bet on the winner of the beignet bash....I've been known to get into a froth over my latte's...and powdered sugar doesn't have a chance with the Queen of Klutz K gets to it...

This WAS fun...

Very cool write you too. Felt the haunting of the old city. Gotta admit, New Orleans is my favourite city in all of North America…it’s just not possible to have a bad time there. And I love Café du Monde, but I HATE the pigeons there….they freaked me out so much the last time I was there, I had to leave!!lol (okay, so I’m a scaredy cat!! Now you know!!Lol)

Ahh...now this I do like...sorry you didn't get to see Old New Orleans, before "they" started destroying HISTORY (which is real whether it's liked or not!)  Years ago could have taken you some places where I could almost have garanteed you a spiritual relevation - now, sadly, most spots have been destroyed through one guise or another.

Loved the write you two - but then, had to, you're both close to me soul...
