You can cut yourself by accident
while prepping veggies in the sink.
You can cut yourself on parchment
writing your heart in poetic ink.
You can cut yourself while shaving,
playing cards and dominoes,
or while innocently scratching
those annoying mosquito bites
you find between your toes.

But the deepest cut you’ll ever know
is when you cut yourself off
from the love of your humanity,
thinking you are a solo player,
playing the game of life on your own.

  “No man is an island.
   No man stands alone.”

Some wise person said that
a long, long time ago.
I simply repeat it now,
in case you didn’t know
it is a universal truth.

You can cut yourself by accident
while prepping veggies in the sink.
You might even bleed a little,
but not enough to make you think.
But when you cut yourself off
from the arms of humanity,
you lose your soul,
and perhaps your life,
as you embrace the weakest link.

This is so true. And I am afraid a lot of people are doing exacly this, with all the war going on.
It's a scary time.

Love this Midnite!!

When I read the title I was wondering if this was going to be a game show....instead it was a great poem! I prefer the latter!

I am delighted and humbled by your wonderful replies. I am only able to spend a few minutes here today, and this poem wrote itself for me early this morning, when I realized I only had a few days left to sit and surf, read and reply.
I am temporarily "cutting myself off."
But I know better than to do it for long.
I need you.

But the deepest cut you’ll ever know
is when you cut yourself off

playing the game of life on your own.

Hey Kacy!!!  Get back here right now!  We need you, too!!

Desperate for changing
Starving for truth
Closer where I started
Chasing after you

By far the best ponder-piece on tap today~

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Kacy, this is sooooooo wonderfully said, sweet friend, it saddens me to see so many try and isolate themselves as their situation! (sigh) This is a sad but painful truth our world faces, sweet friend, I too join you in thoughts of sympathy to all who dwell in this grief, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
