He held sway behind the glass
voice raised in sobbing plead
quietly she stood at the edge
suffering in silent bleed

hear me! He cried with fervor
heads turned in consolation
she smiled, held her head up
so no one saw her situation

he gained notoriety and fame
his squeaky wheel was oiled well
she just lived on in desperation
and sadly, no one could tell

You know, at first I started to hear the
strains of Simon & Garfunkle and a man
banging on glass, shouting "Elaine"....

and then of course a second read, and I get
a totally different story in my mind...

good write, this...

watches and reflects on the other him...

Thank you all for your kind comments. The origin of the poem rests in several areas. One of them is from a situation at work - we had a young employee who was always saying how much she needed help. In fact, I did a lot of her work without the supervisor's knowledge because I thought she was in trouble and really couldn't keep up. She resigned to move to California. She had two weeks to clean up her files. I got 5 of them - and believe me they are a mess! I don't know what she was doing but she sure wasn't working on them!!! There are others in the department that just plod along, don't complain about having too much work and somehow just get it done. But this young lady yelled out - and got help. And in the end, we discovered that we were doing most of her work!

This is one of those universal themes that could be correlated to some aspect of just about everyone's life at one time or another... Very well done, m'friend..

BRAVO!!! Oh Sharon, this is wonderful, sweet friend, I too am guilty for before demanding attention so very much when I was depressed and being abused by others at school and seeking no help from my dad and so I failed to be brave and try to battle my own demons, whereas now I regret that and try now to do all I can before I go seeking attention! (sigh) This is powerful, sweet friend, your wonderful words are as golden as always, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Sharon
I guess I'm not as clever as the rest that know you so well but I could make up a thousand different stories out of this.....I do have an inkling or two.
Thought stimulating writing for sure!
I enjoyed the read!

the louder you yell, the less you're doing??

hmmmmm. . . perhaps that's why most people think of crying wolf. . .

but, then again. . . there are those who never speak. . . and should. . .

great work here. . .
