        Of Harmony

I take this thought all fragile with disquiet
and lay it on the purple hue of sunset
until you can hear the color that I long
like skin it warms until it's soft
then melts like footsteps wet on sidewalk
lost in fragments then just gone

Slow a minute then and wait for me
for I am not as quick as I used to be
and I look around sometimes and feel fear take me
to places where bitter truth is painted dark
by treasured sacred piece of me my heart

This brittle life can be so surrounded in a light
that in the last small piece of sun
it strikes a cord like just begun
then winks one last look into the pale ascent
lost in crowds all heaven bent to pay respect
to the monument that ashes build

Give then with tip of head and lowered eyes
a thought to peacefulness inside
perhaps then all with struggles will hit their knees
and listen to the way a chorus sounds of harmony

You gone and done it again.....

I don't want any excuses for your humble
thoughts of yourself...  Just wash them
away and keep painting!

seems to me you heard more in that moment of silence than some hear in a lifetime...because you learned how to listen to the sky when it whispers.
this is one exquisite write dear poetess...
you wrapped us in the sunsets soul and sang us a prayer of harmony....
and you know I am so loving the rhyme you sprinkled this with.

I remembering being one and the same ...
closer even than the heat and the flame.

Dear Martie,

Yes, life is a fragile thing.  Your poem touches parts of me that no one has been able to reach.  Michelle is smiling now, I assure you.  Bless you, my gentle one.

sorry Martie, yes, it is a good thing. if the purpose of poetry (which is my opinion) is to make one feel, then you are the true definition of a poet. there is not a piece of yours that i read that doesn't strike somehow, some way into me and make me feel something. this one started hurting softly, and ended with a quiet, but not "bad" melancholy. sometimes it's hard to find the words to express how those feelings affect.

Peace

C

Martie, your poetry always gives me goosebumps. (That is the ultimate compliment you know )

This one is, of course, intensely beautiful, and as I've told Magnus about his poetry - please please please publish a book of yours, so I can read it over and over again!

Thank you for sharing ~

Martie, This piece does make the reader 'feel'
and it touched a part of me that is hard to reach at times...
You have a way of doing this...softly, gently as you play and dance with the words.
~Hugs to you dear poetess~

I've read this several times... and with every read, different phrases claim my attention... You've written a kaleidoscope - every read is fresh and new but equal in beauty to the last... and the moods shift subtly adding depth.

I can only breathe an awed wowwwwwwww. *S*
