Heart Full of Broken Glass

I know why they call it breaking up.
Because your heart is going to shatter
into a thousand pieces of broken matter.
It happens every time you drop a wine
glass onto a hard ungiving floor.
It will be broken into little
shattered pieces and nothing more.
This is the fate that awaits
the owner of a broken heart.
All the kings horses and all the kings men
will never manage to put it back together again.
Even if they could I would infer what for.
For a broken glass holds no value anymore.
And I felt just as damaged when the one who
held my fragile heart simply walked out the door.
Who would take the time to try to save a broken glass?
I will sweep it up and throw it in the trash.
Someday someone new will share a glass of wine
with me and surely much more carefully.

I really liked that. It was very easy to understand and I loved the reference to humpty dumpty about the kings horses and men..Great job. Very touching

Don't hold back the words you really mean.

Ah James, I have felt a bit like a broken wine glass myself. Good analogy.

James this is exquisite writing I’ve known this feeling, who hasn’t, but few people have the ability to portray it quite so well as you do. This is truly excellent, your analogy is perfect. I’ve been the glass, I’ve also dropped the glass, foolishly so. But we live and learn, and the next time I’m the glass I’m going to ask to be replaced carefully on the table.

Excellent writing

(big hugggssssssss) Oh James, this is so very sad, sweet friend, I think many can relate to this analogy and I hope now you have found a love whose glass will always be flowing with wine carefully! (sigh) This is lovely, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet James, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Yep, hold out for the one who will treat your heart like a fragile wine glass…then drink a tender toast to her.

James, your poem has touched me.
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
Who would take the time to try to save a broken glass?
I will sweep it up and throw it in the trash.

It is true, no one seems to want to be near someone who's self esteem is in the toilet. you admit here that you wouldn't either.

I am glad you realize you will share again, even though much more carefully next time.

Time to think about "recycling"... and I totally agree with Tracy here.... hold out for one that will treat your heart with respect.

Love,

Sherry

But above all... be kind to yourself today.
