Take the time today for just a silent thought
For all the men and women, their final battle fought
From days of Independence to drab of terrorist cave
Remember all of them with the completeness that they gave

This day is given in memory of total sacrifice done
For you to enjoy the freedom that their death has won
Wartime or peacetime, it really mattered not
They served all of you to the final sleep they got

The mind cannot imagine of what they all went through
So the flag could keep a-waving, flying high and true
But in my heart I have to say, this day’s not only for those who fell
Give a silent prayer, for the others, who had to live and dwell

More than one sacrifice comes from country served
For there are many, that received more than was deserved
The price of freedom comes with very expensive coin
Paid by the men and women, in the service that they join

So when you breath the air today, know that it is free
And you could travel anywhere to see what you would see
But a price was given, so that you could have this day
So give a silent thought for all that took harm’s way

I love that. As this year moves on...it's seems America is slowly forgetting that we STILL have people fighting for us...Your poem is a great reminder. I love it.

Don't hold back the words you really mean.

Happy Memorial Day to you all and Logan, this was a *gentle smile* indeed and a lovely reminder that yes indeed not only there but in many countries we walk free because of those that stood in harm's way for us, and still do.  Wonderful tribute, you should be very proud of this piece.

More than a moment, Logan...more than a moment.
And I shall do whatever I can to make sure this stays at the top...in memory of all those who have left, to give us what we still have...our Freedom.

Logan

Yes, my thoughts on this day are like this, but not expressed as you do with your wisdom and heart.

Your campfires always burn with much truth and beauty. This is a gentle way to remember all the souls who walked this pathway.

Logan,  thank you for extending your gratitude to ALL who have served and given.

I took that oath...and I gave my country
my best effort to ensure freedom for my
family and all of the free world...  Maybe
just one small speck...but all those specks
made a mountain so large...

And it is still growing today...and
every day...Let us not forget that there
are still thousands who are on ships, on
and under the water...overseas at remote
locations...many are fighting a war for us
as we breath this air we have...

Let us not forget...
