The Blues Don't Forget     (blues song)

Gonna sit right here
by this firelight
Watch the shadows climb the wall
try to get through the night.
Open another bottle
and refill my glass
and wish you were here
with that love you said would last.

Now everybody gets down and blue
but me I'm slowly dying thinkin bout you......

I know you left me
but you're not gone yet
you're still right here
where these blues don't forget

I wanna call out your name
and talk bout our love
and ease all the worries
between the two of us
But I know you can't see me
cause you left like the wind
so I'm sittin here hurtin
wishin you'd come back again

I'll stare at the ceiling and cry at the walls
and crawl through these feelings till a dead sleep calls...

I know you left me
but you're not gone yet
you're still right here
where these blues don't forget.

I'll talk to your picture
and hope I hear your voice
But I'll just answer myself
cause I ain't got no choice

I know you left me
but you're not gone yet
you're still right here
where these blues don't forget.........

Eric, I am enjoying this early morning bluesy piece, and putting down on my things to do in the future:  travel to where he plays, and listen to the music as well...I think I would like that!

This is wonderful. I have been trying to write lyrics for my nephew's band, but I don't think I have the hang of it yet. I've written about 5 so far. I really liked this, I can just hear it to music

Thanks Elizabeth....keep trying to write the lyrics...it will come to after a while. Lyrics are a form of poetry. I guess one of the biggest struggles when writing lyrics is trying not to sound too poetic and more realistic, if that makes any sense to you.
Always locate the hook for the song in the chorus because that's where the listener relates to the theme. Preferably the last line of the chorus. Thanks for your comments I appreciate them!

(big hugggssssss) Wow, I love it, sweet friend, I envisioned B.B King singing these lyrics reading this, I know you would make a wonderful songwriter with all my heart! (smiles) May you sing the blues always of a love close to your heart that chases them away, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Eric, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I read this last night, but it hit way too close to home to respond…brought a tear to tell the truth. This is a heckuva blues song…wish we could hear the tune as well. Great write Eric.

Sometimes, only the blues will do.
I've always loved the blues, even before adventuring into these blue walls.
I'd sure like to hear this one sung.

I see this man...

sitting on a straight-back wooden chair in a room that's nearly empty, and the fire's glow seems to be taunting him..

sitting with his elbows on his knees, and head in his hands heavy from his anguish and torment..

eyes swollen from the relentless flow of tears that saturate his face..

and I can almost hear him speak these words through quivered lips and shaky sobs..
~~~~~~
Wow...Eric..your well written poem really showed me the vision....EXCELLENT!
