Flutter By

In Memory of Ginger Michelle Chadwick

Oh butterfly, you flutter by
your home between the earth and sky
in spring, you burst from your cocoon
in time with mother nature's tune

and when you spread your speckled wings
you echo of eternal things
the spectre of those wings in flight
sweet whispers of eternal life

as toward the heavens, you ascend
a symbol that life never ends
flying through eternity
exalted beauty, fancy free

so, butterfly...please flutter by
remind us that we never die
and loved ones whom we thought had gone
live on somewhere...somewhere beyond

soaring through the earthly mists
to enter heaven's timeless bliss
casting off their human forms
like you, from your cocoon...reborn

A most difficult day for Larry,
and I thank you for once again,
showing your heart, Lyra...a
very special gift you have given
to Larry, and to all of us...

one kiss of his mouth,
one touch of his hand
than an eternity without it.

Lyra, this is so special. I know you understand this terrible pain. I think empathy from friends is about all that we can give in this sitution.

Sue, thank you so much for your reply...
I would love to know the story of your aunt, sometime.

A butterfly flew out of my first husband's grave just as they were lowering his coffin into it.
When he was dying, he sid he would send me a sign that he was still alive somewhere...I took that to be the sign.

Thanks Karilea...butterflies have long been a symbol of the passage from this life to the next.
The butterfly we saw at my first husband's burial was doubly special because they had been spraying for gypsy moths and it knocked out the whole butterfly population....and yet, in spite of that....here was this magnificent butterfly, flying OUT of his grave....and butterflies...almost NEVER go underground....thats the chipmunk's job.

Thanks so much, Martin...I think it is very comforting to think that our loved ones are not gone, but alive somewhere....maybe on a different plane of existence....

How very sweet of you to say that, Sy...

Sometimes, I wish I really were a butterfly.

They are such beautiful creatures and they don't need makeup to make them look that way either.

Thanks so much for your reply, Sandra...

I think you are right about the empathy...but I really can't say that I know EXACTLY what Larry is going through because everyone experiences loss differently.  It also depends on how the loss occurred.

Thanks so much, James...I was a real skeptic until I saw that butterfly...I guess because of it, I was also reborn in a way.

Lyra if only could know that I remember and that you have strengthened me. Rest in peace dear friend as you have brought it to me.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
