The World In a Day

goldenrod tickled my legs, taller than I am high
invisible parting waves buried in gold
moving like lightening
new sneakers propelling me like cannon shot
hundreds of immortal winged creatures startled
they fluttered, incensed by an interrupted sleepy summer day
Hands on chin, legs sprawled,
g*d gave me hours to watch the earth crawl before my eyes
a new world that adults ignore,
bustling, if you only took the time to watch
navigating farm furrows deeper than Moses' parting seas
sometimes I helped them, spanned my hand across earth chasms
they knew a friend
and scampered the flesh bridge shortcut
so determined; so robust for little things
One smoky grey day, I witnessed carnage
while the Red army, smaller, more organized
invaded the slower Black army, and stole their young
little white papooses carried in mandibles that burned
The Gulliver in me wanting to even the odds
but I just watched, entranced by the divinity of cruelty
and my black friends, decimated, divided,
took exactly 5 seconds to compose themselves
and rebuild their world in a day
~~~ ~ ~
To the wonderment of youth
may it stay with us
for all days
as it does for
Krissy, who has that great love of life.
Yes I've seen those things and still wonder.
Enjoyed the read.
(big hugggssssssss) Oh Jeff, while there is so much cruelty and sorrow in the world today, I always am moved and admired by those who work to help one another in dire need for the good of humanity and rebuild so much in so little time with love! (sigh) I too hope that we can all be more philanthropic and reach out to one another with peace, sweet friend, God Bless You, I know Krissy will love this just as I do, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Jeff, trhank you for sharing!
May love and light always shine upon you!
Love,
Noah Eaton
Jeff darling boy How do you do this? Keep writing such perfect poetic wonders that fill my soul with such sweetness, I can feel the quest to know all along my nerves right into my deepest part of my soul.
You know I’m going to say that I love this utterly, outstanding writing as always YOU are a fabulous writer and this is utter delight. I’m awed by you time after time
Jeff your writing is always something incredibly special, this is stunning utterly utterly stunning
Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy
Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the eathquake wind and fire
Oh
I love this child eye view of the world, Jeff.  I think little kids see things that adults take for granted....
and I loved the ant war.
Jeff, I couldn't say what I feel any better than Madame Chipmunk...
So may I just echo her thoughts....
and add that this is incredible writing my friend.
Jeff
I had a glass jar of red ants..I treasure for hours the watch of their ingenuity.  Remarkable they, and this poem, and the eyes of youth.
