I come to you my poet friends
for all who care to read
if in your list of prayers to send
theres room for one more need

You see, my father needs some prayers
in this, his test of life
as he is weak yet still he dares
to try with all his might

They say unless some answers soon
not much more can be done
yet he lays and hums soft tune
says "in a way its fun"

"Just another challenge" he says
"to keep me on my toes,
one more thing to say that I've done,
if I live to get old"

Through all the things that he's been through
he keeps his spirits high
he says he'll fight, stay strong and true
untill the day he dies

Untill he sees a brighter day
the only thing to do
is hope and wish and help and pray
for strength to get him through.

7 years ago my father had a kidney transplant, he was almost in perfect health at the time, just a hereditary disease he had known about for 15 years and was prepared to deal with.  He has been in perfect health ever since, he is 52 now, but one of the anti-rejection meds he is on gave him cancer.  He had surgery to remove it and the affected areas Dec 2nd 2001 but hasn't been able to recover and receive chemo to date yet due to numerous other complications.  He has been in the hospital for the last month and a half and my mother with him (he is at University of Madison hospital here in Wisconsin, 2 hours from home). He had emergency surgery Thursday May 9th 2002 and made it through that when they said there was less than a 50% chance.  Now he would have a fighting chance if they could figure out why he is so sick, they say there is no reason they can find that he should be.  Very little new cancer was found in the last surgery and doctors said it could still be treatable if he could get enough strength to fight it.  He needs all the prayers he can get and I thank all who are able to help sincerely on behalf of myself and my family.
I thank you greatly for taking the time to read this.

Your father will be in everyone's prayers...we shall see to that.  Please know if you need to contact any of us for some support, just e-mail us...we'll be there...

I am so sorry you are having to go through this, but if you can stay strong, so, perhaps, will your father...

My prayers are with you...

With a son like you at his side I just know his strength will improve but I will pray that he is given the strength to beat this.  My heart is with you and your family as I know the stress and dissapointment that is felt in seeing your father weaken.  Be strong for him, for you are the mirror of him and we will be in the background praying our hearts out.  Hang in there, and may God be with your Dad and give him strength.

B.J.  I will include your father in all of my prayers.  I have just finished radiation treatments for a very rare form of bladder cancer.  There have only been 132 cases of this type of cancer ever recorded in medical history, so, even though I am being treated at the University of Michigan...which is number 1 in the world for urologic cancers, I know that they are still flying by the seat of their pants when it comes to finding the right treatment.  My oncologist told me to do some research on dendritic cell treatment which is one of the newer types of treatments and basically uses the patient's own immune system to fight the cancer by hyping up the immune system so that it will be strong enough to fight the disease.

If you do an advanced search on google...you will find several articles on this....maybe this could help your dad also.

~ prayerful hugs

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all your thoughts and prayers.  This is such a great place in the respect of how much support everybody gives to one another and I just want to let you all know how much it means to me.  I will keep you all updated on any new news with his current situation, as of yet everything's still pretty much the same.  Thanks so much again everybody {{{HUGZ}}} to you all.
