She used to hug me
for no reason
except
to hold someone
she loved

always knowing
I wasn’t quite there

hoping someday
I would love her
the way she loved me

justice comes
in a moment
of finest irony

I stand
inside her heart
know my guilt
know my sentence

no defense
is offered

You words always
seem to center
right there,
right
here.

the sincerety of this piece has as much impact as the irony....
its always there in your words...between the lines...and on your sleeve...
I have said before ....you wear it well.

Soon I'll grow up and I wont even flinch at your name.

Ouch, this one hurts. I understand the feeling, though it usually goes the other way for me.

Mists too thin to grasp
Hung heavy folds thick enough
To separate us.

flip it around, stand it on its head, then... duck. irony rules my life, i can relate to this on a  very intimate, personal level. keep going Duncan, i'm following you.

duncan,

your words always leave such an impact
on me...and this one is no exception...
such a powerful write...pure and honest,
based on such tender emotion and yet
full of such intensity. you do this so well.
take care.

Irony is what makes us stop and take a second look, maybe from a different angle.
I hear your heartbeat in this.
