I found an error in the news that I would like to mention
With hopes that you are kind enough to give it your attention,
For, on the page announcing deaths, I found it rather queer
That, though I searched from start to end, my name did not appear.

Although it is a small mistake, I feel, in my condition,
That I deserve at very least a little recognition.
I can't believe you didn't know that I had passed away.
You spelled the name right of my girl we buried yesterday.

Or did you think those left behind can just go right on living,
Faced with only emptiness and nothing left for giving?
Taken from the only thing that kept my heart alive,
How is it possible you'd think that I could still survive?

Your writers on the evening shift must have heard the sound
My torn heart made the moment that they placed her in the ground.
Perhaps they thought a cold wind rose and blew with icy breath
Instead of knowing it was me within the throes of death.

Now that I have done my best to bring this fact to light
I'm sure that you are willing to correct your oversight.
Tomorrow in the morning news, please try to tell my side
For, though I breathe, I feel as though I were the one who died.

This is very powerful, Balladeer. It's not what I expected from the title. Very well done.

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Balladeer, this is so very sad indeed, sweet friend, I could never imagine anyones name bring forgotten or unmentioned like this, sweet friend, this upsets me greatly, but I know deep down that all of us won't rest until everyone knows what a special person Ginger as is Larry is and she is mentioned! (sad sigh) You have such a loving golden heart, sweet friend, we are all so fortunate to have such a friend like you, God Bless You!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

You’ve put into gentle words how it feels to lose a loved one. For it is true that a part of us dies too. And when that loved one is a child, I’ve no doubt that it feels like we have died completely.

Oh Balladeer...

This is so creative, so touching, and so accurate a feeling, I'm sure.  It is not those who have gone on to better grasses for which we are sad, it is for those left in earthly grasses, missing loved ones so.  I love this writing, and I'm sure he does, too.

Michael,
I like it everytime I read. Written with an understanding that conveys the truth. Thank you for your generosity and no permission was necessary but the consideration meant everything.

P.S. Please explain to Noah the name "not mentioned" in the poem is the parents not the daughters.

’Deer dearest heart your writing is without doubt so incredible it always expresses perfectly the feeling and this does. Your compassion, your ability to share your thoughts and feelings show what a really special man you are. I can see by Larry’s reply he values your words greatly, as do I. Perfect writing as always I love the way you’ve said it all.

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Larry, I'm so very sorry if I read this poem the wrong way, I apologize for sometimes when I read poems I think of it one way because I am very sensitive and don't know what else to say! It is Ginger who must always be remembered and loved in our hearts, but the parents too must always be comforted and reached out to in times like these, so my heart goes out to you! Thank you so much for pointing that out for me, forgive me if I read this wrongly! (sigh)

Love,
Noah Eaton

Michael...I think that this is the very best poem, I have ever seen from you!

I love the tender portrayal of the parent.  I know that Larry must appreciate that, as I do...having also been in that position almost 2 yrs ago.

You have written with such feeling, exactly how a parent feels when his/her child dies.

I remember when Eric died...wondering why it was him....he had so many years to look forward to, such a bright future, a beautiful little family started....
I really thought it should have been me instead of him...indeed, at that moment...wished it had!

thank you for sharing this with all of us.
~ big hugs

Michael,

I think this poem is the one that has had the greatest impact on me of all the ones that you have ever written. The truth contained within is a universal one. If someone didn't know the depths of grief and despair before reading it, they certainly would after reading it. Thanks for reposting it.

May I say, again...please...
you have a gift in bringing to light
those that should be remembered
for the special times
they gave others...

Larry's loss...was our loss as well; we've come to know Ginger over the last two years; through poems like these; and tenacity like Larry's...

for some people should never be forgotten.
