Michael...I think that this is the very best poem, I have ever seen from you!

I love the tender portrayal of the parent.  I know that Larry must appreciate that, as I do...having also been in that position almost 2 yrs ago.

You have written with such feeling, exactly how a parent feels when his/her child dies.

I remember when Eric died...wondering why it was him....he had so many years to look forward to, such a bright future, a beautiful little family started....
I really thought it should have been me instead of him...indeed, at that moment...wished it had!

thank you for sharing this with all of us.
~ big hugs

Lyra

'Deer, every time I think i've got you figgered out you do something like this.
really, really good writing here -  you managed to be profound with being pedantic.
as always, you impress.

This hit hard enough the first time I read it... now, it wrenches. *S* Beautifully written, Bal.

You're the only one Deer, who can write this like it's done here.

Admiration and big hugs coming your way.

Thank you guys all for such heartfelt comments...I appreciate them and I'm sure Larry does, too.

Dr. Moose...this poem was for Larry C's loss, not mine. But thanks for the courtesy...

Balladeer,
If I had read the entire thread, I probably
would have known that. That's what I get for
being too hasty. I'm sorry for your loss, Larry.

oh my, I don't think I can be here anymore....I think I'm dying too...I'll have no water left in my body if I keep reading on...so traumatic, and so heart wrenching for Larry and for others who have lost. Makes a person not want to go on at all...if life has no meaning anymore.

Michael,

I think this poem is the one that has had the greatest impact on me of all the ones that you have ever written. The truth contained within is a universal one. If someone didn't know the depths of grief and despair before reading it, they certainly would after reading it. Thanks for reposting it.

'Deer,
I shared this with many this week that are family and friends...thank you.

Doc,
Don't even think of letting the 'deer off the hook. Go get 'em. And my condolences in advance of the massacre.

Michael,
I got out my scrapbook this weekend and read this to my aunt and uncle who were visiting. I hold it dear. Thank you kind sir.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

May I say, again...please...
you have a gift in bringing to light
those that should be remembered
for the special times
they gave others...

Larry's loss...was our loss as well; we've come to know Ginger over the last two years; through poems like these; and tenacity like Larry's...

for some people should never be forgotten.
