Passions Poetic Prince
A tribute to Balladeer, a monologue

There’s a fabulous place called Passions that’s noted for fine poetry
And one day my browser took me to this poetic sanctuary
A wonderful place is the forum where poets gather to spar
They come from all over the world, from places near and quite far
Here they swap tales of adventure, they tell of this and of that
I’ve even heard of one poet who confessed to kicking a cat
Long John is the name of this monster, but before you get quite riled
I believe he was referring to when he was a reckless heedless child

Every place has its star attractions, there’s always a cream of the crop
And Passions is no exception there’s an elite with a name at the top
For all of you new members who have never met him before
Let me introduce you to ‘Deer, he’s the one who we all adore
His name is heard in high places, he’s a prince of poetic renown
And there’s no other man quite like him for getting rid of a frown
I’ve seen him dispense great wisdom, he can always summon a smile
And as for his poetic journeys I’d walk with him mile after mile

I’ve read his heart’s compassion, I’ve listened to his sparkling wit
I’ve even seen him fight off three and he didn’t even puff a bit
There are other poets of note, all the best writers gather here
But none of them can take the crown from that perfect prince Balladeer
I don’t suppose they mind, he doesn’t puff out his chest with glee
Which isn’t always the case when you are considered a celebrity
No really he’s quite modest and he can be seen most every day
In that premier place called Passion’s putting on a poets display

Emma

A short note, I’ve written this monologue, I chose a monologue because it has always been one of my favourite things to read. Aunt of heart Kari will you now admit that I can’t write and stop requesting me to do so. Krissy complains if I’m on the computer too much and mum is already threatening me with consequences too dire to mention. ‘Deer I hope you didn’t mind me writing this too much, please forgive the really bad poetry and let’s be friends. I promise I won’t write any more, I wouldn’t have written anything if Aunt of Heart Kari hadn’t asked me to.

Eternity, stands laughing at old time
for ages? In the grand ancestral line
Of things eternal, mounting to divine

No, this aunt shan't insist that you now take a nap
for a poem of great renown has been placed within our laps
we shall hug you with tender care for all you've said and done
and 'Deer, well he will blush at this song you've sung!

Nope!  You have only hooked yourself into writing more... and

What a sweet tribute to our Balladeer but....

MODEST??? Oh my gosh you say modest

I'm sure that our Balladeer sweetie,
Although he is quite a cutie patoetie,
Would like to be referred to as a modest man
Who likes a bit of poetry and a lot of Spam (or was it the other way around?)

But he's just a wolf in sheepish clothes
Ask Toereg and Long John, he bit them both
"I'm The Mighty Balladeer" he shouts a lot
He's a doll, he's sweet but MODEST?, he is not

Ha ha, I just love to ruffle you up a bit my Deer
Thank Emma for writing this superb verse for you here

Welcome Emma, we're going to have a lot of fun

Titia

Heh heh. Enjoyed this, Emma.

Emma ... this is wonderful!  Welcome to Passions!

Well, now, I'll have to say a great big thank you to Sunshine for encouraging you to post this great tribute to our Balladeer!  He's a marvelous man, and you've captured so many aspects of both Passions, and our sweet poet's charm. Well done indeed ... it's great to see you join the Passion's family.

Best wishes,
/Kit

Well, Emma, what can I say? To be the object of your first poetic endeavor is quite the honor! You may not think it very good but, believe me, I've seen first poems before and yours excels over them by far. You rhyme well and there is more than a small trace of very good meter there. In your next ones (and there WILL be next ones!!) I have little doubt you will continue to grow and blossom into a very good poet. I look forward to seeing them!

How you can know so much about me is uncanny...right down to the modesty part!

Yes, Passions is a wonderful place. The fact alone that it takes people who have never written before and instills in them the desire to write.....well, there is no finer compliment. I have no doubt you will be a very welcome addition to the group (if momma lets you get on the 'puter once in a while)

Thank you, Emma, and I salute your poetic creation!!!

Emma,  your Mum threatened to stop saying
nice things about my poetry IF you continued
to write....

Well,  I guess I am just going to have to
put up with not getting those wonderful
words of hers....and start reading the
wonderful words of your poetry.....

Emma, you are destined for stardom. The Deer may have to make room on that throne. For now, we will let him sit there and enjoy the view. Welcome to the land of magic! And thank you for bringing your own personal magic to this board. This is a well done piece.

Emma,
This is neat.  I think you've done very well. Don't let your sister and your mom keep you down. Elbow your way to the computer every now and then, and post one!

Rarely have truer words been written, Emma!

I don't know why you think you are not a good poet!
You come from a talented family and it definitely shows.

One suggestion I might give you though, and this is probably only because I am an old lady whose eyesight is failing her....
Pleeeze dearest one, would you post your poems in a darker color, so us old folks can see them without squinting!

Welcome to our Passions family, Emma...and don't let anyone talk you away from us....

I guess, your Mum needs to buy a second computer now! (oh she'll kill me for even suggesting that)

~lots of welcoming hugs
