~* White Blossom ~ Flawless and Fragile *~

Age lines encompass
the permanent trail of tears
furrowed deeply into
what was once
a pure white blossom ~
so flawless, and fragile.

I hesitate connecting
with the mirror’s reflection,
unable to contain the helplessness
and anger for its having snatched
away my youth permanently.

Such a sullen expression
where once bright blue eyes
sparkled with effervescence,
and exuberance,
always tempting fate
and its consequences.

No longer laughter but
ironically I see laugh lines
in the corners of my mouth,
so ravaged and jagged are these
edges now etched into my flesh.

As the candle flickers
you gently give me a kiss
just for that one minute
I feel like a young girl again,
with lips plump and velvet,
pulsating to your touch.

You gently brush aside a
wisp of hair from my eye
and kiss my closed eyelids.
My insides begin to flutter.
You beckon me to come
by holding my leathery hands,
stroking them like the finest silk.

My love, you fill my cup up
when it is half empty.
As I look at the reflection
of this woman in the mirror,
the transformation is done.
I can see that pure white blossom,
for to you, I am still
flawless and fragile.

Absolutely beautiful, lady. I see nothing flawed in those petals because your laughter and love of life blossoms anew every day. Laugh lines? Wear each one proudly...they respresent the harvest of a happy spirit

This is lovely - Your words - your poetic vision - and your great picture... We had bouquets at my dad's funeral that were bedecked with calla lilies... I think they're absolutely stunning... Thanks for being you..

This poem is as strong as the flower is fragile...much wisdom here, it is always in the eye of the beholder, and I think that when you are beheld, there is more than a field of flowers to be experienced....

You know you are all pretty darn sweet!  This was "just a poem" about accepting oneself, and the incredible power of being acccepted by another just the way you are.  I did the poem first this time and spent forever trying to find a Calla Lily as to me these are the most elegant and fragile of all flowers, my favorite, and at least here, the most expensive and hard to find.  They signify purity to me, and are almost flawless, hence the poem!  I really mean this - thank you all so much for your constant support of my writing, it is an important part of me.

Sharon darling girl oh my this is utterly utterly wonderful, your pen is perfectly poetical. I love I love it utterly utterly And this is so spectacular, gently softly reverential. The questing thought is exquisite darling heart, absolutely exquisite.

Sometimes you drop pearls of wisdom into quiet pools of wonder, and the ripples across that silent pool of thought reach out to another soul, this is such a time. Utterly breathtakingly perfect. Thank you for this beauteous gift

You know I love this don’t you? Of course you do. Absolutely perfect writing

Now, I'll probably think of your poem  whenever I see a calla lily. Well done! And this photo is also great!

You are all so kind, and I was telling Nan, the funny thing is when I write something I like it bombs and when I think I write something that is not all that good, that is usually the one you enjoy, so in otherwords, I think I will post all the ones I don't like for a while.  You truly are remarkably nice people at Passions, and just when I need a hug most, well...there you are!
