Stormy Night

I love that awesome feel of fright
when sleeping safe on stormy night

ramparts of air, warm and cold
meet at the fronts and battle bold
lightning dances, cloud to ground
raindrops on the rooftop, pound

distant sounds of thunder mumbles
growing closer, booming rumbles
winds whistle through the dark of night
blowing grim parades of fright

meadows of clouds exploding bright
electric pirhouettes of light

a billowy pillow of comfort, my cloud
softly muffles cracklings, loud
my cocoon of sheets and quilts and dreams
keeps me safe from storms, unseen

I love that awesome feel of fright
when sleeping safe on stormy night

(big hugggsssssss) Awwwwwww, I love this, sweet friend, when I was a little boy I used to be scared of lightning all the time and I was afraid to sleep because I was worried of nightmares and being struck by lightning when I wasn't noticing, but now I have grown to love storms, though I never like to go outside to play with them! LOL! (kiss on cheek) This is wonderful, sweet friend, have the sweetest dreams tonight under the storm clouds, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Thanks so much Noah...I think its natural for little kids to be scared of thunderstorms.  My mother used to tell me that the thunder was God moving furniture in heaven, lightning was when He turned the lights on and off and the rain was the angels crying.
I now absolutely adore thunderstorms...I actually like this kind of weather better than the sunny bright days...
I guess I'm all backwards.

Thanks Martie, This must be a poet thing...Most normal humans like bright sunny days, but I have met so many poets who love storms and dark days...I love cloudy days and hate sunny ones...can't figure out why!

one kiss of his mouth,

LOve the poem, Madame C...

One of the things I love about stormy nights is that I feel a sense of accomplishment that I have a place where I can be safe from the storm...kind of gives me a nice feeling, you know?

Thanks Victoria...I guess the "God moving furniture bit, makes some sense...thats what it sounds like...
I agree with you about the rain...it might get boring if we had it every day...and we also might have some flooding.

Thanks Lauren, I guess that is a very good way to describe it...it almost feels peaceful in some ways during a thunderstorm...but I still will never understand why.

Thanks Michael,  Yes I think the safety factor is really important, it makes me feel thankful that I have a nice home to live in and I'm not somewhere living on the streets or someplace unsafe from thunderstorms...It also makes me feel as if somehow, I'm part of nature and the whole world and everything thats in it....I don't know if I explained that one right...its hard to describe that feeling with words.
