I've posted this poem for three years now. I'm not much of a poet, or even a visitor much, but I feel I should post this one again. The first time was the night before I gave this poem to my mother, then after her passing, I posted this in her memory and now I will again. This is for her and all the other mothers out there. Love to you all.

When the dark winds howl and moan
And the rain pounds down hard and cold
Never need there be fear of life alone
Not while burning lifeís spark, bold

Timeless, ageless, rock of storm
Wisdom, knowledge, spreading grace
Shoo away the gray and forlorn
Warmth to fill both time and space

Simple verse of sonís devotion
To a strong heart I hold so dear
You whose tremorless hand did motion
Unsteady feet down many a year

Upon this day my thanks grow bold
To a woman who gives untold
And someday these words I withhold
ďMom, I love you, And Iíll do as Iím toldĒ

Abe, you are a poet. In the truest sense of the word you put your love and your pain in your words. This always makes me cry. Thank you for reposting it.

abe - i'm with sharon on this one. you are the best kind of poet... not limited to rhyme or form. your poetry extends not only through your poems, but in your prose, and your friendship. your heart shows, and that's what truly matters.

peace my friend.

Thank you all for replying, I thought I'd go down with one reply.

Chris - Good to see you around. I appreciate the comments dearly. I swear the only way I'll ever get a chance to talk with you these days is if I post something or if I go to California, and with the weather around here that seems good...

ethome - I'm glad you caught it and enjoyed it this time around, my thanks.

bsquirrel - Thanks for the support it definetly means a lot

Elizabeth - Thank you for your kind words

All the verses were wonderful, but the first four lines give this poem the edge that sets its stage. Your mom must have been a fiery woman who lit the pyre of your heart. This tribute is full of depth and burning feelings.
