Within These Walls

The word of “TERROR” now has been engraved into my eyes
Witness to those going where degradation is the prize
I am trapped in a religion in a place beyond the gate
Where my loved ones now reside inside the temples of their fate

I am prisoner of insanity whose message loudly falls
On the ears of my indignity inside these closet walls
In the darkness of a haven where my soul is raped of worth
And my body weak and yearning for the fruits upon the earth

I’ve been told of darker places where a number is your name
In a naked line of souls, annihilation is the game
Now the pain of separation seems more tragic than my death
And I breath humiliation’s scent, with every living breath

I am fed some meager scraps each day upon a wooden plate
By a person who has truly lived the meaning of his faith
If I live to see the end of war.- This most horrific time
Which will leave the darkest mark upon the conscience of mankind

I will live my life forever in the bleakness of this hour
For my family was taken with no warning and no power
I will scroll the face of sorrow on the pages of all time
For the millions who were lost within contortions of a mind

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Elizabeth, this about broke my heart just thinking of all the families who becoe detached from each other in war and crisis, sweet friend, my heart goes out to them and while I feel the pain may always be with them that somehow they can endure the pain and move on and reunite with their loved ones! (sad sigh) This is sadly powerful, sweet friend, my thoughts are with you, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

I know not what has inspired you, but your writing has touched a deep spot in my heart for all the pain that has been placed on beings from the "contortions of a mind"

I have followed your writings and the plight of your illness. Kind lady you have brought tears as well as laughter into my home. Hardly a day goes by that my husband doesn't remark, "You have to hear what Liz wrote today."  Thank you for sharing your mind with us.

This is a stark, hard, fast paced piece that screams "Holocaust" at me...

You don't know your power with the Pen, Elizabeth.  It is time you were published.

This is very powerful, and I must say, the dark intensity caught me offguard Liz...I love the bold statement of injustice rendered here, and like karilea, I felt the punch of holocaust. You just amazed me all over again.

The last stanza was my personal favorite of this powerfully written and most enjoyable poem.

"nobody would publish my poems". . .

they would be foolish not to. . . for you are indeed a master of the craft. . .

well done my friend. . .
