Cool Detachment

why after all this time did you call, what did you expect to achieve?
did you honestly think your lies once again i'd believe?
your cool detachment didn't trick me, for you and I both know what is true
you say that you still love me, but did it ever occur that i no longer love you

years ago, you and i were together, but that is in the past
i now have a love that i cherish, something i KNOW will last
once our lives were so meshed together, i didn't know how you could really be
but then you dropped your guard...the day you hit me is the first time i began to see

you weren't the loving woman i had first met, you changed into something new
i'm not sure what happened, whether i grew up, or i just outgrew you
years passed, you just left without even a note to say goodbye
in the years you were gone, i dried my tears, a smile replaced the way i use to cry

i watch you from under my eyelashes, you don't even know im doing this
for a moment i remember what it use to be like...it's a time i honestly don't miss
did you ever love me, or were all the years just a lie
it's time to let us both go, time to say goodbye

you've held onto me far too long, you come around just when i think you're gone
i changed the radio, i no longer play our favorite song
i was just a kid when we were together, you older, i thought you knew it all
but when the chips fell, you weren't there to catch my fall

i hit the ground, that hard ground, and the tears came down
i looked for you, but you were nowhere around
only when i picked myself up, and began my life through a new door
did you come back asking me for a chance once more

time passed us by, we are different people, i'm a woman now, no longer the child you use to know
the winds changed, and i changed with them...never will i forget though
you were my first love, but our love faded for a reason
it's time for you to let go...you and i passed into a different season

"you can't stop
the rain
from pouring down
can't stop the
world from turning 'round
can't stop me from
loving you
no matter
what you do"

Amy Hi there it’s Emma here I’m the youngest of Mushy’s daughters. I’ve been trying to join for weeks but not been able too and now I can so I did. Mum will now have to wait her turn patiently. As I’ve had to do for weeks while Krissy has been having fun in the forum. I definitely don’t write poems.

I have been an admirer of your writing for simply ages and have finally got the chance to say how much I do love it. Your writing has a very real quality something very special about it. You are a very good writer.

lots of love
Emma

Amy,

I think you did both...grew up and outgrew..

And I do know that you said it well and
bravely too...
