In a years time so much has changed
losing myself to bygone days.
I want to pack it in
and fold myself neatly away,
stowed below the decks.

An accumulation of heart aches
and life's trials and tribulations,
tucked inside my pocket,
taking only what I need
channeling through the sea of change.

It seems like just yesterday
I came into love and held it dear
nurturing and protecting
wanting to be here always
in the early morning sunrise.

Pouring out my heart and soul
to those very people who give my life meaning
have driven me to point of no return.
Sadly, we pass like ships in the night
losing our footing along the shoreline.

After all these years
I never thought it would come to this
weeping for the way life used to be
and the winds that forced the tides to changed,
pushed and pulled in the ebb and flow.

Overcome with trepidation
I fear the unknown
yet determined to go the distance
and find my way
alone.....

I understand this perfectly tonight...and it was only yesterday.

now, 'tis time to leave all. . . and go on. . . yes, for that's all that we can do. . . is go on. . . and, in going on, we find that we have been going all along. . .

well done. . .

I think Sven said it very well....

A most reflective poem.  And so very true.

Lori, you have expressed this feeling very well...
Time to move on...we just seem to KNOW.
Very well done and packed with emotion.

(sigh) This is so sadly beautiful, sweet friend, tomorrow may remnain uncertain to us all but I know soon enough we will find out and I pray that somehow we can find our way back to how things used to be and find a pastoral peace in life! (kiss on cheek) This is very heartfelt, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lori, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

I definitely and completely understand these sentiments. It's hard to say "It will get better" when you're in a vortex. But, inevitably, the vortex ends. And while that doesn't mean things will get better, it does mean they will get on.

Really liked this poem.

I can't help but see all the things I place in my pockets ... I am a packrat of sorts,
constantly hiding my emotions, myself in folds of time .... but never really holding any given moment ...just finding the right time to set them free.

I picture a soft white dove flying away at the end of your piece .... soaring the change of time.
