I wish some words I had
for this woman I'd call my mom
but I never got to know her
so the words are slim to none,
but in spite all just the same
I miss her so very much.
I wish that I could remember
her very special touch....
but God took her away
on a very special call
when I was very young
and yet so very small.....
but still I felt her presence
sometimes I still do now
I just wish I could say I love you....
just once.........just.......somehow.....

I know that she was wonderful
so many times I have been told
but if one memory I could recall...
I'm sure it would be solid gold....

(My mom passed on when I was 18 months old....
so I never had the treasure of KNOWING her.....
but yet......there were times.......I swear her hand laid upon my shoulder when I hurt the most....
I guess that's what a mothers love is for, I know it would be for my own lovely daughter....and I KNOW that my father gave me the best love a mother could have given......so DADDY......for you.....as always...happy mothers day in my thoughts of you.......sorry all....I ramble .....again.....)

Donna, of course you feel her presence, for she is always with you, watching you and smiling proudly.  I am so sorry for your loss at such a young age.  Seems your father has done a remarkable job as both dad and 'mom' to you....wonderful!

This brought such tears to my eyes, Donna.
My Dad passed away 14 years ago at the age of 77.  We were very close, and he was the one who introduced me to poetry and taught me to write...and I know that I have felt his hand on my shoulder many times...
most recently during my battle with cancer.

Thanks to all with love.  He was both parent and friend.  The only word I have for him is remarkable.  Lyra, he passed on in 1999 at the age of 72. We miss him much even still.
Mothers Day Hugs to all,
Donna

watching o're with their love
full of pride and happiness
touching you with sweet caress.

I know how proud your father was Donna, and your mother~

While the loss is not the same, still, I feel for you, and know, please, that your mother holds you still, in very, very special ways...otherwise, my dear, this poem would have never, ever come about...

Gosh Donna, for whatever reason,  I have
been a big sentimental lug today....

This makes me even more so...

big big hugs to you today....  Your feelings
help those of us who knew our mother feel
even more complete,  KNOWING that we have
at least known our own,  and been touched
by her presence..

SC, thank you.  Don't be sorry.  I am not sorry that it was her time, I only wish I could have known her better.  I found a poetry book that belonged to her once......and I was hooked!  Her greatest gift to me still lingers today, and I don't even know if she knew it......Hugs

Donna, you know sometimes this bond you feel with the spirit of your Mom can be stronger than for those whose Mothers are living.  I womder what is worse?  Having had a bad relationship with a mother who was alive, or feeling as you do in this poem about a wonderful woman whose presence you feel (and I know you do) Happy Mother's Day to your Dad from me, as it sunds like he did a wonderful job!  A very nice poem which I hope you share with him.

Sharon, I wish that I could.  He passed on in 1999.  Indeed he was very special.  He raised my sisters and I since I was 18 months old as I said before.  I think he did ok, but I guess I'm a bit biased!!
