You abandoned my heart
And left its door open wide
You didn't seem to care
How much I was hurting inside

I took solace at the seaside
Cold winds chilled me to the bone
Our love is all washed up now
Since you left me here alone

We once walked this beach together
As two lovers hand in hand
Back then there were two sets of footprints
That followed behind us on the sand

I stand here lost in my memories
Salty tears now sting my eyes
I cannot believe you betrayed me
As you traded my love for lies

My quest for love is not over
Just because our love has soured
For you will never break my spirit
As I grow stronger by the hour

For I refuse to be defeated
As I cast your love out to sea
My sadness will only be fleeting
From you my soul has broken free

Next time I'll be more wary
When love comes knocking on my door
My eyes will see more clearly
I won't be used like I was before

Suetang~ Yes!  There is such determination and hope in this and it's all wrapped up in a flowing, and perfectly rhyming style.  Wonderful!

*hugs*

Sue, there are so many lines I like here, I can't choose just one or two. All I can say is I know this feeling, and you said it just the way it feels. Beautiful picture too, is that a beach you know?

(smiles) Oh Sue, this is soooooo beautifully heartfelt, sweet friend, I'm sorry everything didn't work out the first time around but I know you will find all your heart desires and as long as you follow your heart you can never go wrong! (kiss on cheek) This is breathtaking, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sue, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Thank you all for your wonderful comments.  I must confess I stepped into someone elses shoes when writing this one as I so often do. I'm glad my words moved you enough to think that it may have been about me.

Take care......Sue
