Ah, lad, the wind were blowin’ fierce…
Out o’ the Nor’ nor’west-
Her ‘ighness’ vessel, Balmorhea,
Were reckoned wi’ the best.

An’ Cap’n Morrow, glass in ‘and…
Stood on the quarter-deck.
Not knowin’ ere the day were done-
‘is ship would be a wreck!

St. Geroge's Island is she called-
Bermuda’s  evil twin…
And many vessels sighted ‘er
To never sail again.

‘er reefs are many,
Fit, no doubt, a sailin’ ship to kill…
The worse o’ all the evil lot,
Lies offshore o’ Gibb’s Hill.

“Make yer course there two eight five,
Strike t’gallant sails…
An’ leadsman! Gi’ me soundin’s
Fra the dolphin catcher’s rails.”

“Bear up! Bear up! For fortune smiles-
I glimmed Saint David’s light.
Make yer bearin’ two eight five-
Now things will be alright.”

“Belay that! Cried the bosun’s mate…
The whole lot will be killed!
That ain’t Saint David’s light ye see-
But that upon Gibb’s Hill.

She struck wi’ an ‘orrendous blow-
Rolled once an’ she was gone…
All ‘ands were lost, wi’ Spanish gold…
‘er whereabouts unknown.

Yet on the bottom, bleached and bare-
The Cap’n’s body lies…
‘is spyglass lyin’ near ‘is ‘and-
And doubloons for ‘is eyes.

A moral? Why, p’raps there is…
An’ tell it? Aye, I will…
When in Bermudian waters lad-
Best steer clear o’ Gibb’s Hill.

(smiles) WOW!!! Oh John, this is wonderful, sweet friend, you detail the drama during the Age of Exploration and conquest so wonderfully here, sweet friend, the myths of gold and adventure always fill your fabulous tales! (sigh) This is another wonderful Traveller Tale-esque masterpiece, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet John, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

GS, this is remarkable! The work you've done to get the sound "just right" is extremely well done!  I felt like I had the poet right here, allowing me to be the audience, front row center!
