A paper circle in the sky.
Glowing cold. No sounding tear.
The scissors tumbled in the surf.
We panned for silver at the shore.
Found whole bucketfuls of light
and one handle. Salted link.
Smoothed by use. A precise snip
tucked among the staining clouds.
Found a ring, a pale halo.
Among the trees, a lantern bone.
Limning light of borrowed sun.
A paper circle in the sky.

I don't believe I will ever view the moon in quite the same way again. In some odd way, it reminded me of an old cartoon I once saw where a huge dog buried the moon in some guys backyard...go figure! Very creative!
