The angst is strong with this one. (<-- should be said like darth vader)

-Lost and found today-
crayon rubbings. holding pictures.
kiss the warm, wet ground of flowers.
kiss the cemetery tree.
kiss me.

yesterday turned to tomorrow,
forgot finding today's blaze.
the trumpets seem so stonely muted.
the sun seems a wet glass of glaze.

drank from your brimming earth cup,
poetry poured verse down lipside.
to my trembling anxious hands,
washed in poison with each tipping.

writing cloud seams to engravings.
names to line in someone's song.
we found evening muddy primrose.
the days are white and lily long.

Angstful. And I've been that muddy primrose.

Always a pleasure, Midnitesun.

ethome, I think the best poems are the ones you have to work at for meaning -- kinda like the best records are the ones you put on once and dislike, but then start loving once you get into the grooves.

Having said that, it's basically a story about visiting a cemetery, mixed in with lots of flower images and using poetry as an elixir to mourn. It was pretty much inspired by reading a few poems here today, one about just hanging around like "a country bumpkin" and drinking with a friend before they have to go, the other about playing in a cemetery as a child, and, finally, the usual touch of ache, loss and weight that precludes me writing anything.

By the way, the trumpets are straight out of Cinco de Mayo, but through a skrim of sadness, as is the sun as a wet glass of glaze. In other words, seen through tears.

The final stanza is my attempt at redemption. Kind of saying these names on stone can "line someone else's song," the memories live on, inspiration thrives, and though the evening sky is sometimes muddy primrose, and though pain is white, so are lilies. So there's the spiritual element of this whole thing.

Now aren't you glad I write that as verse, rather than convoluted, even-harder-to-understand reply posts?

I read this earlier, before your explanation..and saw the cemetary, the sadness...I was caught up a bit by the flower images...I guess life is sometimes pretty as well as sad..and even flowers die.  Sorry for the long exploration of trying to say...I liked it!
