where the sky and horizon meet

0 posted 2002-05-05 09:39 PM

A dark shadow
lingers in my mind
It sits there like
a crow on a fence post
It waits, hunched over
to attack
Swooping down
when I least expect it
It will pick away at my
tenderest places,
the smooth and soft edges
of my soul
Slowly, methodically
it will tear my heart open
and leave it gaping

A dark shadow will enter
into my heart
And revel on the
sharp edges of my soul

Hey lady...it's good to see yer face! *smooches* (oh...wiping screen...forgot about the lipstick!)

This is a most eloquent portrayal of anxiety. (to me, anyway) It is exactly how I feel about that unexplained lurking, and the fear I have of reocurrence of attacks.

I'm not sure if that was your intent, but you slammed one "home" for me, so I thank you!

Krista darling girl this is such a tortured and image filled piece, I swear I can see the picture clearly, and what a horrific but accurate picture it is. The trials of a soul that is so vulnerable to attack is heart wrenching darling heart. Take care of yourself and if this isn’t fiction here’s a ((((( hug ))))

SmittenKitten - I must agree with serenity, as this is how the panic attacks I have endured, seem to me as well. Whether you meant to or not, you have described a dark disorder vividly!!! Well done. Chris

K~ Hehe, girly, you make me giggle   I'm sure your screen is full of smooches from all your lovin'!
You are right about the intent of this piece....But I don't think it was anxiety in particular that I was focusing on but more the attack of depression and bad feelings in general.
*hugs and love mothy lady*

Mushy~ Thank you for understanding...and thank you especially for the hug *hugs and love back*

Magnus~ Hehe...sorry, your comment about the buzzard made me giggle ~ I'm not sure if it was supposed to or not!
Thank you very much for your comments and I think the crow is taking off soon!

Chris~ I'm sorry that you could relate to this so well.  This poem came out during a bad time for me and often I feel like there is always something bad lurking in my thoughts and heart, thankfully though, it is not a permanent disorder for me. *warm hugs to you*  Thank you for your view!

Nancy~ Thank you!  *hugs back*

Hugs to all of you!
