Here's a poem I wrote to honor this special holiday, I posted both the Latin and English version!!! YAY!!!

Cinco de Mayo
By: Noah Eaton
5/5/02

Come on now, it's time to get loco
Grab a coconut soda, have a slice of flan, and save the tradition
Breathe the quenas and pampanas and strum the charango
Against the rising of the red chile sun

Flood the streets and fill the canals with shouts of flamenco
With samba hearts strumming like a Carnival parade
Get your lover, recite the bandeneon, and dance your tango
Beat to different drums and give each refrain some meringue

Because on this day that dates back to 1862
We honor the freedom and liberty two colorful nations share
Bringing peace to both Mexico and America we cherish true
Liberating Pueblo in battle east of Mexico City without fear or despair

Thanks to Colonel Diaz and General Ignacio Zaragosa, justice was served
Helping lead a cavalry twice as large as Napoleon's, and ending our Civil War
Uniting America in defeating the confederates and leaving Mexico's liberty insured
Bringing true colors of solace and gratitude together, to celebrate forevermore

So gather all your children round and break the pinata
And grab your sombrero and slap on your sarape
For the heritage we share lives on and on
Sip a nice glass of Tampico and let's spread the party between you and me

VIVA! el CINCO DEMAYO!!
Spread your vibrant colors and strike up the mariachi band
VIVA! el CINCO DEMAYO!!
Dig into some delicious mole poblano and sing your song
And may this party last all day long...

"Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..."

Shakira

OLE! Thank you Noah! I really do miss the Cinco de Mayo celebrations that I grew up with in Southern California. I must admit that I'm drinking some wine tonight instead of cerveza or tequila, but I did make the pinto beans, and will have quesadillas and beans and nachos for dinner!  OLE! Cinco hugs to you, amigo. Vive la raza!...or something like that.

Really enjoyed. The fact that I can understand this through a yesterday haze of 100 percent Blue Agave tells you something about the clarity of your words (and the mis-clarity of my mind)
