I hear of soft words of the long gone past, Meanings said should always linger and last, It’s not that you or I have forgotten, It’s not that the meaning will ever end; It’s the words that softly echo inside Words that I never ever meant to hide, Words that have gone quiet over distance, Of miles and time and lacking insistence. But we both know which are what words unsaid, Silently prayed each nice before we bed. I tell you them now as you lay sleeping, In praying out loud for your safe keeping, My eyes watch lacking sleep red from weeping, Slowly time walks to us ever reaping. Gloom |
