Between the Lines

And so I am here, once again
with thoughts, wondering,
an avalanche of unreadable fears,
stilling time.
I find the silence
tempering the winds of want,
while I await the sun breaking through
and the singing of the day ahead.

I shield my spirit from the crush of pain,
from the foolish lyrics that play in my head.
I alphabetize my memories,
placing chaos before order,
deceit before truth,
confusion before sanity.

Do you remember me at all?
Do you know the depth I traveled in heart
to reach the level of you,
that releases beyond reason?
Do the unspoken, these papered thoughts,
lay carded at your door?

Why are the hug of words
so important to the edges of my world?
Why do the hidden dreams
hold your allure behind the shadowed walls,
allowing me to follow piperless?

I am pending the moments, titled in new,
dusted in the warmth of smiles
when nature calls out its sing
and the fears drop away to the naked me,
laying here in my perception of truth.

Too serious I know, an unfinished me
awaiting the polish, your shine,
to treasure my antiqueness,
to lay me in comfort
inside these spinning wheels of thoughts,
to weave another day into another
and another and another,
until time covers me in you
and we share in the light
what I know the darkness holds,
for us both.

M
