I miss the blue
of my father's eyes
in the very joy
of seeing
me--
a look
that made me
hug myself...
approval
of the beach to sea.

I miss the amber
of lover's eyes
I miss
the delicate
of gold..
I miss the timbre
of his voice...
I miss the
promises
of choice--
I miss
the chiseling
of road
together--
gather gifts...
grow old.

I miss the wheat
of summer field.
I miss the fuzz
of leaf in growth;
I miss
the missing
part of me.
I miss his love.
I missed The Oath.

I feel the autumn
turning leaves
green to umber
letting go...
I miss the pattern
of my tease;
I miss the slumber
of my ease...

Cotton dreams now spun to gold?
(cotton dreams of stories told)

Most people would've just answered...

with a color
with a rhyme
with a simple
moment in time
not you

thank you for considering
the question to be
so much more than it was
on the surface

I do so love the way your mind weaves poetry...
spun gold baby... you write spun gold.

... and I don't know why ...
Why should love come down and just sweep me away
I want to fly ... but there are so many things in my way.
