Under the moon in cast of light so full
I stand in love of thee upon the steps of life
As waves of blue crash with yon sound of gull
My shield I lay in peace, and sheath my knife

A weary soul stands wavering and tired
from days of ride on hill of crimson flow
The bones of men lay ‘pon the green retired
as souls depart into the night of glow

A war of men to keep the say of words.
In name of God and church and liberty
The chosen way that speech for all be heard
as stone does fall and life is now set free.

A war did rage till two of moons did fall
as life and limb were lost upon the green
The light of day burned red onto the pall
of lives now dead in flow of crimson sheen.

A scar on flesh, the brand of youth and men
Tears of the soul and of the softest skin
As proof in life of those who fought, did win
Olde ways of love and war and death back then.

Excellent writing, Magnus, and I like the way you used the colors...

from days of ride onhill of crimson flow

that line particularly is striking...very well done, sir

Magnus darling boy I think this is utterly utterly spectacular. This a truly outstandingly fabulous poem. Such precision of placement, such a fabulous flow and form. You paint the scene darling heart as only you know how to do. You combined  the imagery and the sound in perfection in your marvellous and utterly unique way. Truly perfect writing, and I love it.
