This was a tribute to a special person.

A Man

A man that lifts a wounded child
Still weeping in distress
And knows the magic in the kiss
He gives with tenderness,
Yet still has shoulders strong enough
To ride upon in glee
That hoist his child above the crowd
Parades and more to see....

A man who gives his leisure time
To teach a child to throw,
Or catch or bat a leather ball
With skills he might bestow,
Yet still has strength at night to read
A fairy tale or two
To children safely tucked in bed
To dream the whole night through....

A man who knows that many men
Must search throughout their life
To find what he found long ago,
This jewel he calls his wife,
Yet knows enough to cherish her
With word and deed and thought,
Repaying her in some small way
For happiness she's wrought....

A man who stands before his peers
Accepted and admired
And gains respect accorded few
For qualities desired,
Yet keeps his feet upon the ground,
His head out of the clouds
And lives each day without regret,
Considerate but proud....

Is worthy to be known by all
As Father, Husband, Friend,
And better still stands tall as one
On whom we might depend.
This man of simple dignity
Is one of far too few,
But you my friend are one of these,
The rare, the loved, the true.

(smiles) Oh David, this is sooooooo beautiful, sweet friend, I wish when I was young my dad could have played with me like that, I was abused in my childhood and he always ignored my pleas for help when I needed love the most! (big hugggsssss) This is a very touching and beautiful poem to a wonderful man, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet David, thank you for sharing!
