Mailbox Sighs

~*Marge Tindal*~

The mailbox sighs with realize
that she won't be here next year
Another has called her heart to come
and live a life of joyful cheer~

Flag in lagging ... no opening chime
No chance to say 'Mail Call' today
The mailman filed the forwarding cards
that took her heart far away~

The porch swing sits in stillness
awaiting her dancing feet in song
The daffodil out on the hill
hangs her head and moans~

The Magnolia holds a blossomed-scent
weeping her perfumed reply
Cypress trees fall to their knees
hoping she'll pass back by~

Butterflies in cocooning
mourn with unfurled wing
Sweet Cardinals perch the window sill
hoping for Sunflower seed~

The sun-in-set shines brightly
knowing that wherever she might be
She'll catch the glow of thoughts in flow
and pen of the new joy she sees~

Up and down the Green Swamp Road
neighbors miss the wave of her friendly hand
Hoping she's as happy-as-a-lark
homesteading with her man~

Sly Red Fox lies cunningly alert
thinking he spies her car
But it's just the real estate man
with strangers from afar~

They hear her whispers across the meadow
'Lord, let them revere this home'
And the ancient's smile approval
of these new residents on the roam~

aww I like this Marge! It is such a luxury to have our mail delivered. Imagine if each day we had to drive to the post office to pick it up!!!!

This poem reminded me of the day that I waited outside all day for the mailman because I was expecting some cd's...and I waited and waited...until finally someone was nice enough to remind me that it was sunday LOL!

Margie girl darling sister of my heart this is incredible writing, absolutely outstandingly good. I truly love this diamond from you. You have an amazing ability to write with such clarity and love. I can feel the sighs of love for home here, and the joy of moving where the heart is. Utterly utterly fabulous writing and I love it

Saying goodbye always hurts a little.

The mailbox in Deland wouldn't know what's hitting her, once you've moved in there I think she should be warned.

Ms. Marge - saying good-bye is never easy and you leave behind so many memories, stories, thoughts. Gosh, I'm not moving and I almost cried at this one. But, as I've said before to you, think of the fabulous new memories you and Bill will build together. And the mailbox will be smiling when you arrive at 'your' new home.
Hugs, Marti

find as much beauty next year.'

Marge,  I have felt the pains of moving over
most of my life...I know the feelings well.
But I also know you are going somewhere that
LOVE abounds and will surround you and keep
you both safe...  My best to both of you
in your new venture...

Marge:  I enjoyed this so much and I can remember how hard it was for me to move, several times.  I loved the house where we were and the friends I had made and felt like nothing would ever be that good again. It was of course, but never in quite the same way.  Digging up your roots is a hard chore!

When I first read this yesterday afternoon, I was thoroughly captivated by the poem long before I encountered your sweet words of dedication...
For as I read, my own move memories came visiting: the excitement of entering an apartment as a newlywed, the curled ball of misery that left everything but her clothes and rolled into a tiny furnished dump when escape became necessary, the awe of moving into a place I (and the bank *S*) owned, the joy of returning to my home state, the heartbreak of leaving my baby nephew for work 250 miles away. I remembered the appliances I'd repaired and then had to leave, the garden I'd dug with a shovel that benefited only my neighbors, the people who'd promised to keep in touch and then drifted away. *S* Change is never totally free of regrets... even when the brightest possible of futures beckon. *S*
So my face was damp with tears at your forlorn daffodil and wreathed with smiles at the ancients' blessings... and then I was stunned and humbled to learn I'd had anything to do with the creation of such beauty. *S*
I am so grateful for you... I feel I can tell you anything and find acceptance... and you don't just listen, you hear more than I say. *S*
I'd haul boxes for you if I was closer... I luvs you that much. LOL
This one's into my library!!! *S*

Auntie Margie girl this is really truly lovely, your writing seems to get better and better. This also brought back some memories of moving into my own place, I believed the estate agent when he said it was an up and coming area, Now that was a mistake. But I can see the joy, the trepidation, the love that has surrounded you there in that home that is so much more than just a house. Your heart Auntie Margie girl is bigger than the whole world, and that is where your home is, there inside your heart.

This really is a truly beautiful poem, and mum was right I do love it Utterly
Happy homecoming,

I wub you Auntie Margie girl

Love and warm stuff
