Someday is Finally Here
By Larry Chadwick

Don’t ever forget when times were hard,
When you were just tired and so poor.
How you struggled for courage,
Longing for the day you’d finally soar.

Surviving by that future thought,
Someday you’ll look back and smile.
It seems the sacrifices paid off,
That extra effort so worth while.

So now you recall when times were hard,
And by contrast today is a simple trial.
Aren’t you glad that you didn’t ever forget?
It’s good to finally look back and smile.

Funny, I was just thinking about "those days"--and I was also wondering about how we never recognize our own happiness as it occurs...A struggle? Sure. But the rewards were smaller and much more satisfying!!! But then again, who knows? I could be BLISSFUL at this moment and not even know it!!! (ACTUALLY, I DO KNOW...and I am... )

Wonderful write to get me thinking Larry!

Larry, everyone should at some point step back and take a long hard look at where they have been and how much easier it is now.
I enjoyed this so much...as I sit here missing my sister Nightshade/Chris who just left for home...
Hope you had time to catch our duet last night, To dance in red leather.
Thanks also for your encouragement!
Love this one!

Positive thoughts abound! It's always nice to put life in perspective, especially if the present tense is a more comfortable place in time than the past.

I really liked this, Larry.  It seems to me that those who pine for 'the good old days' have forgotten the difficulties that they were having then!

It's definitely hard to surrender to happiness, when things aren't happy. But you kinda do just have to surrender to it, and take the day for what it is. Thanks for reminding me.
