A Flutter of Enchantment

You came from somewhere far away
Where I have never been
On paper sails you navigate
And ride the mighty wind

So silently you tumble down
In swirling days of spring
A flutter of enchantment found
In treasures that you bring

In rambling pathways in the air
You dance and dart around
Flittering from here to there
Before you settle down

Oh butterfly, what splendors bring
The magic of your grace
Translucent stained glass golden wings
Have found a fragrant place

Your colors spread majesticaly
And gather in my eyes
These wings that crossed a tropic sea
And tumbled from the skies

And now you light upon a bloom
So near that I caress
Your golden wings with rapture
Of the glory you possess

Monarch is the name you’re given
Royalty, your place
So noble is your strength within
So humble is your grace

How fortunate my spirit’s fate
When you passed through my garden gate

a most appropriate write for May Day! I loved the "paper sails" analogy of delicate wing here...this is a joy to behold, as butterflies, always are.

I sure wish I was sitting in your family room looking at what you see right about now Liz, I miss the serenity of your yard but will read it through your work, which is like being there.
