Bits of a Journal – from the Soddy, date unknown

And you, my dear

make smiles light

secret places

where whispers touch

and hums

turn to song...

Watch the mists as they do part
for in the glen is where we start
upon a pathway for only two
above the green, beneath the blue

Carry courage, comfort, values, heart
as the wind carries all dreams start
talk in quiet as you lay the stick
as the mists fold in so thick

They are for us but a blanket of thought
when future's past is a glimpse of caught

And you, my dear

make smiles light

secret places

where whispers touch

and hums

turn to song...

Eager are the hands to hold
all that will would turn to gold
see the sheaf from boot appear
and see the growth of golden ear

See the tassels in the blow
see the gifts to reap what’s sowed
see these treasures spark your eyes
what should change but realize

For they are but now a blanket of thought
when future's past is a glimpse of caught

And you, my dear

make smiles light

secret places

where whispers touch

and hums

turn to song...

Harsh the winds that scour earth
ravaging that we hold as worth
shrill the bird before the quiet
when thunder reigns, a mighty riot

Earthly pelts of swift flung ice
may crops be saved, a season twice?
Might we face the coming year
Or shall the elephant see our fear?

For this is now the blanketed thought
when future's past is a glimpse of caught

And you, my dear

make smiles light

secret places

where whispers touch

and hums

turn to song...

It is to you I turn to find
a courage strengthened like rooted vine
a cup of water to salve my thirst
to know this is not the worst

we strive again, a forward path
knowing this is not God’s wrath
but nature come, as nature goes
wending joy and wending woes

For this I keep, a blanket of thought
when future's past is a glimpse now caught

And you, my dear

make smiles light

secret places

where whispers touch

and hums

turn to song...

What a beautiful love song and story! I'm going to keep this in my library. From the soddy - ah, lovely! That deep love can carry people through dreadful experiences unscathed. Fortunate were the pioneers who loved each other dearly!

an ocean of you,
what if I told you,
what if I said
that I love you
do we dare cross
that line between your

Ahh, Sissie, what a lovely bit of soddy you present here. Probably in no other time of history did the family have to stick together in the hardships of the plains, to raise their families and tame the land...very gentle smile

just the thought of you
cradling my head lovingly
sheltered by your love

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

now I know that you were there. . . these could come only from a spirit that walked in these places. . .

yes. . . open yourself to it. . . well done. . .

Karilea~I too believe you had to have lived during this time to be able to write of it so vividly....wonderful..
and Nightshade thinks so as well.
Love the refrain!

(smiles) Oh Karilea, your Soddy series never ceases to amaze me, sweet friend, you write just as if you were living in the nineteenth century in Kansas and seeing the world in its peaceful and pastoral gorgeous point of view! (big hugggsssssss) This is absolutely beautiful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

A thoughtful write, Karilea.  There is so much wisdom to be learned from looking where we thought we couldn't.  Hugs!

when you said to me..."my muse has returned" ....
that my dear...was an understatment...
Not only back...but singing no less
love the repetative verse in this...
and the wisdom passed across time.

... and I don't know why ...
Why should love come down and just sweep me away
I want to fly ... but there are so many things in my way.
