I Need Some Mississippi

Lord,
I trust you with my life,
I really, truly do
but I’m ready for
a bit of Mississippi
instead of Colorado’s Snake.

I’m ready for
some sweet serenity,
its leisurely flow
instead of mighty rapids
that toss me to and fro.

I know You’re in control,
You’re my raft
to stay afloat
but my mind and body’s tired
of hanging on
to the bits of the lasts’ ropes.

I’ve given You the oars,
and grabbed them back
now and then.
And now I can’t consider
grabbing up
the chore again.

I need some peaceful waters,
at least I think I do,
but I know I truly must
place all my faith in You.

Yet as I wait
You’re perfect solution
to the needs in my life,
please help me, Lord,
find languid waters
and harmony in You.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Stuck in some turbulence? I remember drifting lazily on a southern river. You're right, it's more relaxing than the rapids. But when you need an emotional pick-me-up, does the rush and energy of the Rockies river keep your head far above water?

I need some of this too, every day.

Thank you.

Peace floats on the internal river, no matter the where.  I understand this turbulance ...and the great old Miss....sounds pretty good to me too.  Wonderful metaphor!

Lots of Mississippi going down today, and that's a good thing.

It reminded me of going through rapids. Really enjoyed.
