Mississippi Dust

rusted out old
pick up truck
producing high flying
Mississippi dust
barefooted thin pale
blue cotton dress
blows flirty kisses
in the gust
sunshine caressing
my fair skin causing
it to blush and freckle
to match my hair
drinking sweet tea
from an iced mason jar
makes me feel like a
southern millionaire
yes, I truly
do love you
no matter where
I shall be
I hear your sultry
deep delta lullabies
and Mississippi dust
is still part of me

I hope Mississippi is home because you sure speak of it like it is.  I too enjoyed the imagery. Rave on poet, rave on I say!

EXcellent! Bravo!!!
The images are exquisite, slick!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Helen, this is wonderful. I was raised on the Mississippi in Alton, Illinois. Thanks for taking me back.

*sigh*
I've been here in Mississippi forever, and I still cannot write about it as well as you, Lady. You know I love these poems. I would love to do a collaboration with you one day on one of these. E-mail me when you get a chance. Lovely, as usual.
