Deep green places with evil beauty
The river is a sluggish brown blood
Flowing through the fetid body of mud
The boat's engine breaks the wall of silence
The night is a hot moist black blanket
It smothers the life from the land
The cabin is dimly lit by soft red light
I sit in the foreward tub with two fiftys
No warning
Red trails stream from the darkened shore
I swing the guns to where they were fired
The tracers stream in and dance in the night
like fire flies
The boat shudders as splinters fly
I hear a scream of agony
I hear a moan of pain
The boat lunges on into the night
The blackness closes in
Silence returns
Thats the way it is in this annex of Hell

Dedicated to the memorie of those who rode and fought on the PBRs.The delta never belonged to Charlie.

Well, you have captured he scene well.
Charlie thought he owned Can Tho, but he never owned anything except a special place in Hell where we sent more than a few
